About time you got it painted.  I can't believe you let it get so bad. The salt air in your area is a lot stronger than I'd expected.

It looks ghetto and very unloved like that. A lot like you really 🤣🤣🤣🤣

No .. it's gonna stay .. I'm a sucker for the factory / dealer delivered specs ..

Another quick update .. paint has been applied to most of the car. Still the Satin Black to go for the jewellery .. door handles, window trims, etc.

Then assembly .. 😀

The painter is calling it .. "the straightest s**tbox in Australia!"

Enjoy the photos ..

Not sure how I missed this thread.  Started reading with glee.  Then I got to "moist anticipation".  Not sure if I can go on.

Yeah, I could immortalise (murder) the apprentice with the hole saw, who in 1990, placed the aerial hole too far outwards on the front guard of my 964, causing the aerial to ever so slightly lean away from the car, using up all the adjustment available and still not being correctable or vertical.

I filled it in on the 928GTS when I painted it, much cleaner.  But hey it’s different with an Audi I guess….🤪

What’s your plan with restoring the wheels Ronny?

I am going to get any gutter rash sorted and then I'm in 2 minds about which way to go ..

1. Paint / coat them in silver as per factory.

2. I found these that someone else had done and I'm quite taken with them (see photos). Basically they had all of the crevices painted black and the surface in silver.

I'm slightly torn as I prefer things to be factory but I really like the other look. Unfortunately I don't have 2 sets of wheels or the funds to do 1 of each, so once a decision has been made, I'll let you know.

Front windscreen, rear hatch, rear bumper, side window and various seals and rubbers fitted today ..

The black surrounds and jewellery is pure black and look absolutely fantastic! .. better than new and make all the difference from the old faded ones ..

You must be happy with the progress, things are turning around quickly

Thanks mate ... yeah, very happy with the “almost” finished product.

The paint is phenomenal and the black jewellery has been painted from its faded 40 years on the car and really looks good against the red ...

All in all, really happy. I’m guessing that Covid has played a part in the progress as they are quiet so have been able to spend all their time on it to turn it around.

An option to consider is have the wheels done in silver and then use the Plastidip product to spray the hollows in black (low cost) but a lot of masking. You can always peel it off if you decide otherwise or then  go to black paint if you decide on the best look.

Option 2 please, or else.

It’s looking really good, and happening super fast!

Where is this guy, Narabri?

I know right .. how good do they look with the black. I like the idea from @9fan with the plastidip, but as he said, would be a ton of masking.

The dude I’m using is local to me. I’ve known him for 20 odd years. Ive been going and helping with the fit up for the past week, so having an extra pair of hands has certainly helped. He’s also been very quiet due to Covid, so this job probably came at the right time for both of us. Him for the $$$ and the work to keep busy, and me for the turnaround time.

Just got an email from Germany letting me know that my seats have been made are ready to send ... another piece of the puzzle nearly ready .. 😀
