For Sale: 1979 SC

Here goes......I’ve been the caretaker of this car for over 6 years now.

The car is an Australian Delivered, all matching numbers car. It still wears its’ number plates when it took the trip south to Victoria from Scuderia Veloce Motors in NSW. From the pictures you can tell it is not quite the purist specimen.

Approximately 3 owners ago (who was a panel beater) adorned it with those lovely metal hips and the poster wall black duco. It is by no means a show car and I would classify it as a ‘5 footer’, but she still turns heads!

NOTE: There is visible rust by the back window (second pic). This has stayed the same during my ownership. I contemplated addressing this prior to advertising but decided not to as:

-        It does not bother me, so may not bother you?

-        best to know exactly what you are buying versus a lottery with other cars

-        don’t know about you, but I get nervous when I see fresh paint….

The speedo shows over 300K, however this is not the original speedo as it is from a 930. Therefore, I do not have a true indication of distance travelled. Don’t let that deter you as every suspension component has been attended to.

It wears SuperPro bushes for the Shocker tops, Engine and gearbox mounts, Front sway bar bushes and Banana arms.

The remaining suspension points are standard Prekom rubber with the shock absorbers being yellow koni sport adjustable along with rear turbo torsion bars to compliment the turbo look.

Early in the ownership I fitted a factory short shift kit and replaced the rear shift coupler bushes. The factory seats and steering wheel will come with the car – both of which are in good condition.

Finally, the engine:

Approximately 10K ago it was fully disassembled and rebuilt with larger barrels and cams to give it a nice drum beat at idle. The larger pistons mean it is known as a 3.2 litre short-stroke. Big difference from when I first purchased the car!! This work was carried out by AutoArt in Preston.

Now, I just change the oil every year and enjoy the smiles per miles – maybe you can too? 😉

Mention Financial Membership on PFA and I will be more inclined to sharpen my pencil = Let’s start a conversation 😊

My journey with the car can be found in the below topic

Honest car from an honest bloke, must be a hard decision to let go and I'm sure won't be sitting around for long at that price.

Sat behind this girl on several weekend drives, looks great on the road with those wide hips and matching rubber, those lurking shouldn't waste time, GLWS @P-Kay

An opportunity has risen, which results in hard decisions!

My stomach is churning with much anxiety and I feel like Sybil with my mind flipping every half hour!!!

Sounds verrrrry familiar mate 😁😉 Just noticed it was originally Petrol Blue like mine

I'm sure it won't take long to sell in that price bracket 👍

Don't know how much sleep I'm going to get tonight - if at all!

Yeah, there's a few of us - even Wilbur's started the same as ours and ended up the same as mine....It was the late eighties -  early naughties after all ;)

Are you sure?

Truthfully - NO!

It's the old adage of not being able to get back into the market which weighs heavy on my thoughts. Especially with the time and effort I have put into this car, but life is for living :)

I normally say , yes , I have regrets , but to few to mention.                                                      However , the one thing haunting me still after nearly 20 years , is the sale of my 73 V12 E type . Never got over it . I could buy one now , but it would not be „ my „ car. Odd thing , not to mention another lot of cortina, Capri , Healy , escort , etc. But the V12 was the one. Even I’ll miss your car chasing me on those twisties. 🤕

I hope it's being replaced with something equally as good @P-Kay!   I'll miss the matching ex-Petrol Blue wide-body.  One of the first cars I drove with after purchasing mine - and those wheels/stance still look fantastic.

Great car and very well priced - I can't imagine this will hang around for long. GLWS.
