CJM Posted 22October, 2021 Report Share Posted 22October, 2021 Hi all, Off to have a sneak peek of the new Macan at my local Porsche dealer tomorrow. Mum is keen on the Macan S, and this would be her first Porsche after 20 years of Mercs. She likes the 21 inch wheels on the car configurator, but I'm worried about the ride quality etc (she's only driving to and from the shops, rather than setting any PBs at a track day!). Any Macan drivers able to share their driving experience on 20 vs 21 inch wheels? She's in her early 70s, and I'm thinking that the 21s might not be that comfortable (and I'd prefer she not fork out the $$ for the fancy suspension). Oldknees Posted 23October, 2021 Report Share Posted 23October, 2021 Go the smaller tires - ride a lot better IMO. Two Macan experience
WGA Posted 24October, 2021 Report Share Posted 24October, 2021 I have had two Macans. An S and a Turbo. One on 20s alone on 21s. Marginal difference IMHO so I would go with what you like. Oh..and I ran both on 19s in winter (I was in Europe at the time). The 19s really did make a difference in ride due to the taller sidewall. MFX Posted 24October, 2021 Report Share Posted 24October, 2021 I have the 20's and I find the ride is great. My Macan replaced an ML500 and the Macan is much more stiffly sprung than the Merc. Think big sports car as opposed to luxury car. I LOVE my Macan but the Merc was much more comfortable if that is what you are going for. Beau Posted 25October, 2021 Report Share Posted 25October, 2021 21's are fine for me, I really couldn't notice the difference, but if I was buying a Macan for a 70+ mother I'd be going for 20's ... if only for the extra tyre to protect from curbrash 😉
