Hi All

Anyone have a second hand AC compressor bracket to suit a 79 SC or know where I might be able tp pick one up that isn't crazy dollars?

Cheers

Guy

Guy,

What parts of the compressor bracket do you require? Capture.thumb.PNG.ab8ca0dc6dbaf1d698599127f612a100.PNG

Hi Tom, Ian

Thank you both for replying.  That said, now Im a little confused, so Ive sent the pictures to the AC installer to see what he thinks.  I will come back to you both ASAP.

Thanks again

Guy

Not too sure?  The car originally had AC but someone has removed the compressor and bracket at some point, so Im assuming maybe I need all of the parts as the AC guy has asked me to find a bracket that suits the car that he can mount the compressor to?

I'll take a better photo once I get back to the car but here is a screenshot from a video I have on my phone

This is currently my project as well.

toms pic has two parts of the bracket 2 and 18 in the pic.  Ian’s part is off an 84 so slightly different.

You also need 13, 16 and 8.  And all the bolts/nuts.  Plus an adapter for the original York bracket to a sanden compressor (assuming that’s what your fitting).  Those can be fabbed up.

I don’t see any parts for AC in your pic.

Griffiths does sell an entire replacement bracket - will cost you $250usd ish though.

your best bet is what your are doing, which is to find people who have the brackets in the shed.

If you look in my thread you’ll see the photos of the assembled bracket outside the car that I took because I couldn’t find any pictures on how the jigsaw fits together. You’ll see my bracket 18 is alloy while Tom’s above is steel- mine is a late 83 and has some 84 parts in it.

Yep, Guy needs to get this piece as part of a set.  Either have mounts added or buy/build a plate.  Only drawback with the welded mount is no adjustment for lining up the pulley.  Benefit is simpler and keeps the compressor lower Fien do it doesn’t hit the condenser when the lid shuts.
