How to post a youtube video

When you have your youtube video selected, to the right of this box there is an address field called "URL"

Click on this field once, and then copy the highlighted "http:// ..."

Back to the PorscheForum post window, above your topic window there are a selection of icons that assist you. The icon to the far right is your "Insert Media".

Click this and then paste the URL.

Hey Presto!

To check that it worked, select Preview Post before Post New Topic or Reply.

VIMEO MOVIES

It appears that this forum software doesn't cope with flash movies embedded, as a result any Vimeo videos should simply have the URL (http://www....) embeded using the embed icon to the right of the above.

You can copy the URL from the address bar at the top of your browser, and then paste in, and then name the link...

for example...

OK, the word on posting Vimeo is...

copy the URL address from the top rather than selecting the "embed" option on the actual video window ie: http://www.vimeo.com/5719430

and then click on "Insert Media" button at the top of your post window, and insert that the copied URL.

To check it has worked, scroll down and click "Preview Post"

I may be a little blind, but where do i find the Inset Media button. doesn't seem to be on top of the post window

perfect timing - I'm struggling too!

 

youtube vids embed automatically when I use my phone or tablet (but funnily enough, only if I use the link from Chrome, not the youtube app) but I can't for the life of me get it to work on my PC. It just posts the link like this:

I can't see the URL thing mentioned above (may have changed since 2009) but can see a "link" icon. Not that I can get it to work.

I don't see the Media Button either now, so I click the BB Code Mode button (top left) and paste the youtube link.

Sorry to bring this up again - I click the bb code mode button, add the youtube url and it doesn't embed? Is there a command I need to add before the adding the URL? 

I've also tried it using the youtube 'embed code' in all manner of different ways. I was able to embed it once using the 'Special BB Code' button, then selecting media and adding the link but it wouldn't show up in the preview post?

Sorted! I'd been copying the youtube link from the 'share link' option. Instead, you need to copy the youtube link from the address bar, then paste it into the bb code mode.

You can also paste the video's URL via the "insert other media" menu just above the "Submit Reply" button. Choose "insert image from URL" and, even though it's a video and not a still image, it will correctly embed.
