Are you open to re-colouring?  Have a couple of Hilux Grey seats here in Tas from a 986 - same seats, but I need to check their specs i.e. electric or manual etc.  Would be at the lower end of the scale price-wise which could make it feasible for you.  Let me know and I'll delve further into the details

Was looking myself for some seats, this may be of help: https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/m.html?_ssn=gtautospares&_osacat=0&_armrs=1&_odkw=seats&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313&_nkw=porsche+seats&_sacat=0

The mounting for the 987 seats fit, but I believe you need to do some work to get the electrical recline to work...

I have a set of 997 seats in my 996.  If the seats are fully electric getting the drivers side seat to work is quite complicated and expensive as there is a memory chip that talks to cars main computer and which means that you cannot simply just swap the plugs as you have to hack into the wiring of the seats before this chip in order to bypass it to make them work.  Unless you are an amateur auto electrician it is a complicated job.

However, I believe that the seats that are only partially electric for the rake etc may not have this chip for memory settings and might therefore be more straight forward to get the electrics functioning.

yes, i deliberated over a set local to me last week for that exact reason. they were fully electric 996.2 and i was researching how to do the hack (mine are partial elec) as well as getting my heated seat pads swapped over (nive on a cool morning in a cabriolet). The delay meant i missed them.

I thought you could just plug and play with fully electric versus partial electric seats in the 996?

The trick with the 997 seats is not the electric per se but the memory module you need to bypass.

I hear you, heated seats in a convertible would be most enjoyable.

I have 997 sports adaptive seats in my 996.

They are out of a GT2 so they have the alcantara centres and as a tall driver it is noticeable there is improved head room and in combination with the centre console delete kit, for the first time I have decent leg room and head room in the car.

They are a marked improvement over the 996 sports seats for bolstering and reducing sideways lateral movement (I was never happy with the 996 sports seats as I found them thinner and uncomfortable compared with the standard seats and the extra bolstering was pretty marginal so I sold them after less then six months in car) and they are a comfortable seat.  Noting I daily a car with Recaro SR3s so my definition of comfortable may not be normal.

However, wiring up the fully electric sports adaptive seats is a hassle as the drivers seat has a memory unit which wants to talk to the ECU of the car before it will function.  So wiring up is a lot more complicated than in this video, which has the seats that are only partially electric.  It cost a lot to get the seats wired in, but luckily I got the seats a few years ago for less then what they are going for now.

I can recommend the 997 seats as a marked improvement for the car, particularly for a taller driver.  They are a huge leap forward in comfort, performance and looks for the interior, but critically they still have a nice OEM look and do not appear too out of place.

However I would recommend getting the standard sports seats, as per this video, which are only partially electric and therefore much easier to wire up.

If you do decide to go for the sports adaptive seats talk to PR Technology in Brookvale.  They did the wiring for my seats and potentially the expertise they gleaned from doing mine may reduce the labour costs through reduced trial and error for subsequent installations.

In the 996t I’m also finding that I end up sliding way out of my seat during harder cornering.

But I don’t want an aftermarket look, the 997 sears could be  the answer one day for me. 👍

You could consider trying this first:

https://www.windingroad.com/articles/blogs/gear-cg-lock-performance-seatbelt-add-on/

It's cheap and I fitted to my car and found it greatly reduced my slipping on the leather seats in corners.  It does not require drilling or permanent fitting so it is reversible.

They are readily available on Ebay etc.

Are you sure of that? They stopped making these a while back. I went looking for one to install on the passenger side for passenger ride days at the track and was unable to find any available anywhere. I have had one of these on the driver side for a few years and is definitely the best thing this side of a full harness.

Well there you go.  It appears they may have gone out of business so I guess they are not readily available any more.  Damn.

I always wondered about their legality and the potential for lawsuits for the company that made them.

These are alternatives, although no idea whether these sites are still in business:

https://safetybeltcinch.com/

https://shoft.co.uk/buy-now/

I think they are both the same design just with a different name in the US and the UK.
