twro Posted 18February, 2022 Report Share Posted 18February, 2022 I saw that, very sad. I think the cars were headed to North America? In 2021 Porsche sold 70,000 cars, so 1,100 is 1.5% of the annual volume, not insignificant. I wonder if there were batches of particular models which will be hardest hit. Imagine if all the 992 GT3's were onboard 😱
sleazius Posted 18February, 2022 Report Share Posted 18February, 2022 If you jump on rennlist there are dozens of people who have likely lost cars. Stacks of GT3s a couple of TTS’ and quite a few 718s were the more interesting. Those waiting on cars here will no doubt now be pushed back further. OzJustin Posted 23February, 2022 Report Share Posted 23February, 2022 I read about this the other day too. A sad day for the future owners. Good to hear none of the crew were hurt though. I do wonder about the extent of the damage. Some cars may have been completely torched but others may have less damage e.g. paint bubbling from the heat, smoke-filled interiors which won't be good for the carpet, alcantara etc. Imagine picking up your 'new' GT3 and it smells like a barbeque inside!
