Car Transport Perth to Bris.

Recommended Posts

Has anyone done this recently?  Looking for recommendations re companies to deal with.  CEVA is the obvious one that comes to mind, they are $1523.00 depot to depot.  Just wanting to see if there are any other decent players to consider.  Don't want cheap & nasty though.  I assume CEVA gives piece of mind re professionalism.

My dealings with CEVA Perth to Melbourne were less than ideal.  Car was delivered to my home with the motor running as the driver had locked in keys from previous drop off.  I had to call RACV as the spare was also INSIDE.  Never again.

Yikes.  Thanks for this.  I had in mind that I would get the seller to post me the service books & spare key as I have heard these sometimes go missing during transport.  Cheers.

I used Prix Cars when we got Dreamr Jnr's 944 bought over from Perth to NSW.

Was well before Covid madness and also depot to depot and it was about $750.

I have also used Ceva before for another car .. same, same as Prix Cars but quote from them for Perth journey was about $1,400. Gotta shop around is the moral here  ..

Prixcar is virtually the same price - $1400.

Used ceva a few times.   However  sent one of my cars in reverse from melb to perth via ceva.  They used the train.  Never again.  Spent a lot of visual time on the outside  before signing off and taking the keys at pickup from the Perth depot.   Reckon the train got some decent shunts.    Didnt notice until i got about  3 km after signing off from the depot. Door cards in the rear had a good 20mm bulge in middle.   Not a pip  squeak in the  cabin before shipping.   Squeeks and  creaks a  plenty  after the trip.   Drove back to ceva and reported.  Basically said bad luck, you signed off.  Submitted a formal complaint.  There legal response was read the fine print plus you signed off, could of happened after you left the depot.  They also  pulled the super fine print just to twist the knife.  Basically   if the damage is not visible from circa a meter away, all care no responsibility.  Didn't help with tinted windows and you had to be right on top of it to see the bulge or be inside the car.

So last car transporting journey  after that experience was same trip but  for the p car.  Wanted it by ship this time and no train.  However the P car is too low for drive on drive off by the specialised ship transporting agents ship.  Other alternatives by road an not Ceva  were x2 plus vs ceva.  After studying the ship vessels i worked out occasionally ceva use primarily train and  the occassional ship to ferry cars to Perth.   So after numerous calls to the manila call center operators,  saying i want to ship my car melbourne to perth but it must go by ship and whats the earliest trip, no clue.    After about the 5th operator that  understood what i was requesting, i also asked what was the clearance.  They said no clearance for the ship, eg as long as it gets on the truck, the truck is drive on drive off the ship.   So i locked it in at same price as the road / rail, but had to wait an extra 3 to 4 weeks based on the shipping schedule.   Unlike the train, i worked out which ship was used and you can track it from port in melbourne to freo.

Went through the car carefully both interior and exterior this time.    Nothing of note.  Signed off.  Again 3 km down the road, wind down  the window and then  close to getting home, try winding it up and nadder.  Couldnt get it up.  Dodgy switch and coincidental perhaps but   thought if its just the switch  thats a big cost saving over the x2 plus multipliers for other quotes.  Finally  got  the window up after about 4 minutes of playing around when i got the car home and  getting the right finger movement to make contact with the  sweet spot for it wind back up. Now my front splitter was a bit  trashed before shipping so not exactly sure if that clearly   got on the truck without any issues.  I prefer depot to depot.  Dont get the issue of engine running with locked keys being your issue to solve.  Theres you car sir, but we have a slight problem.  Plus  depot to depot with ceva its   4 less truck movements with min  two different drivers that increase the chance of  wrecking the front splitter.

Have booked plenty of cars with CEVA and PRIX and have not seen a significant difference between them (mostly good but sometimes not....in both cases).  The only way to step up a level is to go with one of the owner operator independents but you'd be looking at significantly greater cost.  They also roll less often as they have less trucks.  If cost is not an issue, it's worth considering.

what kind of car value?

I just sent my Lamborghini from Perth to Brissy - enclosed truck door to door.

Ceva Ive used on much cheaper cars, takes 3 or 4 weeks, car sits in various holding yards, multiple transfers/loads. Once I used ceva from melbourne to perth, for the first 2 weeks it sat on the melbourne docks despite telling me it was on a truck to adeliade. the call centre is/was in asia and were pretty useless. Worst thing was a big Hail storm came thru (about 2 years ago) in melbourne while it sat on the docks, had to wait 3 weeks to see if it had been damaged.

Also, don’t leave after market dash cam installed as my daughters was missing when it arrived in Perth from Melb
