Kerry Posted 25September, 2012 Report Share Posted 25September, 2012 (edited) Nick987, I did not see the recent posts that Paul M found necessary to delete based on what he thought was inappropriate. I have full faith that he acted in the spirit with which this forum was set up, and is administered by the moderators. I have however, followed the links above and wonder why you would think it appropriate to offer forth these examples which indeed are, just soft porn titillation. They are very much in the vain, as you point out, of mechanics walls/bathrooms, and where this maybe perfectly acceptable to many of our members, it is not acceptable to all, myself included. The difference here is that this is a public forum, not a bathroom. Pelican Parts web forum may, or may not, welcome this sort of imagery, it is not welcome on this forum. NB: I have removed a statement here where I misread who Nick was refering to, thinking that he was refering to a a current member of the forum whose name is very similar. This was a mistake, and on this point I was totally wrong and apologise without reservation. Maybe you should review the following line from the "Rules and Guidelines" (hyperlink below far right) as I think you have transgressed at least three of the conditions you agreed to when joining this forum... "You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law." Nick, before you dismiss these comments as an over-reaction, and think that you are dealing with some sanctimonious puritan, please understand this... the one single biggest piece of feedback I get about this forum points directly to what we are dealing with today - that of how we have managed to keep the tone of discussion well mannered, and above the base level that many other forums have at times sunk into. A recent PM topic of conversation between moderators was how we should deal with political and religious debate on our forum, and as you would expect, it was unanimously agreed that this was not a platform for those topics. I wouldn't have thought it necessary to extend this to sexism, but maybe I was wrong. Have I made my point? Niko Posted 25September, 2012 Report Share Posted 25September, 2012 Still on at the moment, but the Ayatollah hasn't been into the mancave yet...... since being put on. I would give a rough estimate that this time tomorrow it will have been replaced by something a little more touchy feely type of thing. PCM911T Posted 25September, 2012 Report Share Posted 25September, 2012 Amanda, thanks for your comment. In our view there is no place for photos or comments which are demeaning to women, or are vulgar or suggestive. If you see a post that you are concerned by, feel free to report that post to the Moderators. We're not prudes but we aim to be gentlemen and to respect our wives, mothers and sisters. Cheers Paul M Thanks Paul. I recognize I'm hanging out in a mans world here. So I turn a blind eye to this stuff... most of the time. I'm just concerned about opening the forum in the office and having those types of pics popping up with no warning and causing offense to someone around me. It was getting a bit sleazy in here tho and we wouldn't want to scare any new female members to the forum away. I'm hoping my presence might make some other women participate. Plenty of women drive Porsches after all! Caver

I almost didn't realise as you photo-shopped the model out. The 70's were so risqué. Almost half the images for that car were accompanies by a model. T-Man Posted 26September, 2012 Report Share Posted 26September, 2012 Its what I said I would do. You are right, most, if not all have an offending attachment, so I shopped it "Offending" is so open to interpretation and personal opinion. Guest vas930 Posted 26September, 2012 Report Share Posted 26September, 2012 "Offending" is so open to interpretation and personal opinion. Theo, this forum is for everyone, men, women and children. The mods keep this in mind as a priority. As all are welcome, the rules need to reflect the range of members. Thus, what is deemed "offending" is easy to define. We are doing our best to maintain the original intent of this forum. So, if you would not say, act or do it in front of your parents, wife and kids, dont do it here. Simple.
