Buchanan Automotive's new workshop

Recommended Posts

Hi PFA's,

After some 26 years at our old workshop in Balgowlah on Sydneys northern beaches which we probably outgrew 15 years ago we have moved to our new premises at unit 31, 176 South Creek road Cromer. I have to say I did not know what I was getting myself and the family in for. What I thought may have been a 2 week move turned into 6 weeks. We would work during the day at the old shop and a night we stripped the new place bare, guerney wash followed by acid etch and a weeks worth of painting. It was worth it. It's exactly what we had envisioned, a new workshop clean and tidy downstairs with most of our stock and old parts we have collected since 1994 hidden away.

The whole family including the wife Aimee and my mum Christine were helping both myself and Bruce, even little Savanna our daughter dropped by day to day to make sure we had a break to play hide and seek. We took one Sunday off in the 6 weeks to reset and take our mind off the task still ahead and that included a trip to Taronga Zoo

Syd and his 911 was the first 911 to honour our new shop, it was only a short visit but for plugs and possibly in the not to distant future a set of SSI's, We are just checking to see if the larger 964 version SSI's would fit on Syd's 911 which has ported exhaust manifold on the heads.

Yesterday was another huge milestone for us as we handed back over our keys to our old workshop, somewhat emotional as we had made so many close friends at the old building and even though its only just a few suburbs away it felt like we were never going back

Over the years we have become synonymous with the water cooled Porsche's, with good reason too because we love them just as much as the air cooled variants but I would like to put out there that we do our fair share of early/ mid and new 911. Even a Macan or two

to quote Buzz Lightyear " To infinity and beyond"

Regards

Sean Buchanan

Cromer?  WTF is Cromer?  Ah... now I see it in my 1976 Gregorys.

Congratulations - it looks like a fantastic facility.  Can't wait to visit.

Good Luck,

Mark

Ive been wishing for a clean garage like this for years, We just had way too much stock and old parts and it cluttered up our old space

I am delighted to be the first client.

Some of you might be aware that my 911 is a one-owner car that scored a tricked up motor when it was time for an engine refresh.  Bought new in 1984 it celebrated its 40th birthday in my care a month ago.  I'm super fussy about who I take it to.

Although Bruce and Sean are well known for their transaxle services, let it be known that they've looked after my air cooled 911 for years and do an outstanding job.  So good that I sent my brother to them to service his Boxster.  As to the mischievous suggestion that I take my Bentley there, it is nearly 100 years old and while it is remarkably well behaved, at that age it is understandable that there is some slight incontinence.  Not much, but I would not dare let it drip even a little onto that pristine floor.

Congratulations guys on your new workshop; I join your many happy clients wishing you every success.
