davidtran Posted 31May Report Share Posted 31May Hi everyone, I'm thinking to upgrade wheels and apart from going wider wheels to fills guards I cannot see any aftermarket wheels that looks better than the OEM fuchs wheels on a 911 3.2 Ruf wheels look good on 964, but I feel don't suit 3.2 at all. Anything bigger than 16 inches looks out of place. All the later 911 wheels don't suit at all either. So I'm wondering has anyone ever seen an alternate wheels that looks better than Fuchs on a 911 3.2 because after some research I've comes up with nothing. Although I don't think they look better than Fuchs. My car is lowered 911 3.2. Not backdated, or any other mods. I'm just referring to wheels that look good on a stocks slightly lowered 3.2. Campagnolos would be the only wheels I think I can say come close. If you have any good photos of stockish 3.2s. Please posts. 1 hour ago, drmurugti said: BBS LMs looks great and is an option. LeeM Posted 31May Report Share Posted 31May I have Ronal P9's on my backdate. Pretty rare rims, as I've only seen a couple of other sets for a 911. tomo, FAP911, Stepo and 3 others 5

Fuchs are indeed a handsome wheel, but I think a little boring given how commonplace they are. The period correct options are a cool alternative - esp when colour matched… Mike D'Silva
crsedge Posted 1June Report Share Posted 1June Group 4 Campagnolo if not Fuchs Or detailed Fuchs, though I must declare my bias davidtran and Oldskl60
Mike-S Posted 1June Report Share Posted 1June Mine with the Minilites, 7 & 8 x 16’s. They’re back in boxes now. davidtran, LeeM and Stepo
911 Posted 2June Report Share Posted 2June I tend to agree. I haven't seen anything that looks better than your standard Fuchs on a standard G-body! LeeMs car is backdated and the 964 for some reason looks better with alot of different A/M wheels. G-body I feel is different. If you put those Ronal wheels on a G-body they won't look anywhere near as good as they look on a backdate. I don't think they would suit the car at all. Maybe it's the impact bumper black rubbers that make the Fuchs look so good and makes it so hard to find aftermarket wheels that look good. I think the minilites above look OK, but they just don't flow like Fuchs do. Maybe the painted centres match the rubbers. I searched for a few years for wheels that I could upgrade to with no real luck. The only wheels I think genuinely come close to looking as good are wantanabes. Just to clarify in only referring specifically to G-body cars. Backdated cars have a lot more options, same with 964 IMO.

I think look good because car is white too. Mine is blue. Maybe silver better. Maybe black too. Do you have more info on those wheels? Sizes? Depends who you ask I s'pose, as beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. They can be painted/detailed like Fuchs Yeatesy

Here are some photos olive saved, which I don't mind. LeeM
LeeM Posted 2June Report Share Posted 2June @911 I bought mine as I wanted something different too. They were painted black and polished like Fuchs, I've rattle canned them to all silver, all black, chrome look paint, all white, polished the petals and grey like they are now, so yeah, colour makes a difference Now it's time for a change, so I'll be fitting RSR look Fuchs when I get around to it 911

Oldskl60 Posted 4June Report Share Posted 4June I'm also a Fuchs guy, I don't think you can beat them... Though a completely different look, I do like these as track rims. German made Remotec rims. The 16x8 and 16x9 have a nice dish I'm my mind. BBS esque... Stepo and crsedge
MFX Posted 4June Report Share Posted 4June Wheel style is a personal choice. My one big bit of advice is before you buy any wheels, check to see what tyres you can get for them. Tyres are generally not thought about until you have committed to the wheels and then you can bash your head against a wall because you can't find decent tyres. I agree that 17's are big on these cars, but the range of available tyres is far greater than 16's or 15's. Dalai and Oldskl60

I checked on tyre availability before buying wheels (17x9 & 11 first issue Braid and before there was an agent in Australia) but by the time the wheels arrived the tyres were NLA in Australia 🤬 MFX

You can have the best intentions and get screwed by tyres. Making sure you have many options. I know heaps of guys who have been stuck for ages with wide 15's and Michelin TB15's were out of stock forever. 911CSR
911CSR Posted 6June Report Share Posted 6June I had this issue with mine 19's on a 996. Suggestion was 315/25/19 and you now cannot get them. Lucky was abel to get a 325 to fit, just. Jeff is right, tyres can be a massive pain. You can't run the rims if you cant get tyres
35SIXXX Posted 12August Report Share Posted 12August It’s very difficult to define “better”. Different wheels make cars look sporty, cute, tough, purposeful etc etc. it sounds like you’re sold on fuchs, so maybe it’s a matter of colour, size, or an aftermarket wheel based on the classic 5 spoke Fuchs. I’ve got a set of Fuchs for my 74, but I prefer my steelies for now. That said, if I ever find some BBS E50s that aren’t a billion dollars, I’ll get those.
