Foam Foam Foam

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I've taken delivery on a 996.2 C2 and as part of the PPI there were notes about foam in the vents.

I've subsequently completely further research and now understand where that is coming from and that long term (if not alreadyfor me) the blend doors that are meant to keep hot air out of the cabin when you're controlling the temprature are swiss cheese and no longer do what it says on the tin

Has anyone had their mechanic deal with this?  what sort of labour costs are involved? any recommendations in Sydney?

I watched a few YouTube videos and was going to do this myself going in via the frunk. I’ve yet to find the time or the urge though.

I don't have a garage to tackle this.

One thing I've been confused about. There's videos that say 'you just go via the frunk' and there's other videos that suggest there's two diverters. One only accessable via the PCM/HVAC controls

Thanks - I've found a few videos now and I was coming to the conclusion that access to both blend doors was only available via the cabin (what this video shows). In fact this is the only video that clearly shows both blend doors and spells that out.

I don't know whether the effort to close up the holes is even worth it, or at least not in Australia. Is the issue that the car is too hot because of the holes? Or is it too cold? I haven't had a problem running air in summer, or heating in winter, even with some % of the foam gone. Having said that, I do live in Sydney so the temperatures are not too extreme.
