ZelesJink Posted 1July Report Share Posted 1July My 1983 SC has a belt driven pump(?) in the engine bay. never known what it'd purpose was and i disconnect the belt from it a few years ago. i think the bearing was noisy. i am now considering removing it completely as the car seems to drive no differently without it. anybody what it does and how do i blank off the pipes that come off it. OBRUT Posted 1July Report Share Posted 1July Usually referred to as a smog pump or secondary air injection pump. Ok to delete and from memory you can buy a set of blanking plugs. Philbee
Philbee Posted 2July Report Share Posted 2July @OBRUT Is that just on us or uk cars or row cars too? and do 3.2 cars have this as well?
OBRUT Posted 2July Report Share Posted 2July Pretty sure it was everywhere and circa 74-83? Most cars have had them removed over the years. Concourse dudes seem to keep them.
