Does anyone know what the rules/requirements are around changing licence plates (WA) from personal to standard issue? Can you just request to change them or is it another trip over the inspection pit???

There is a form. Needs your attendance with the old plates at DOT.

No need to go over the pits.

If you intend to keep the plates after you unload the car and once the form is filled out, unless your putting them on another car I thought you have to hand them over as well and they  are kept at select DOT offices for safe keeping until you either sell them or you have them registered  to another car.

Yeah I have heard a few different scenarios so have sent an email to DOT to get the facts.

Yes, this is correct. I’ve got a few sets on ice down at my local DOT.
