Joker at my local workshop wants to sell me the new PCCM for the 997, only $5000 installed he reckons. problem is there is nothing wrong with my current system ,sound is great ,don't use the satnav but would be nice to be able to connect the phone. Anyone got anything that worked without spending thousands. Seen these online anyone tried them?

I have used those and they're okay. I'm not sure where the mic pickup is but people tell me that I'm clear to them

I have used the Parrot systems for several decades and they're also very good. They wire in to your stereo and they have a mic and BT to the phone. CK3100 is the model. I don't know if they're still available but I have 3 sets I've used across my cars over the years.

LAPower Bluetooth is my recommendation, couple of hundred dollars and straight forward to install.
Had it in my 997,1 with the small box sitting in the storage hole under the PCM, in front of gearshift, where usb’s can be used.

Yep, Same sort of thing in the 996 external Mike and the blu tooth thingy wired into the head unit works well.

Continental 7412 single DIN head unit.  Looks the part (orange digits), bluetooth phone connectivity, external mic - I ran the wire up the A pillar, so the mic sits up near the sunvisor pivot.  Pretty much plug and play except for swapping a couple of the wires over (ignition sense and +ve from memory).  Cost effective from Ebay or one or 2 local stores, and you can put your real unit away for 'ron.  Couple of different version for DAB+ etc
