How did you collect your Porsche?

Funny.

Yep.

And couldn't that be a huge thread!

Cool thread!!  :)  I wish to do something as epic as privatepang one day (have watched your blogs on other boards)

I am planning to collect mine perhaps next weekend, Brisbane to Sydney the journey is.

I want to take a couple of days doing it though. Even though I have done the drive numerous times (SYD-BNE).. I have not ever stopped over anywhere in between GC/far north and Sydney, I think I'll stay in QLD for the day that its picked up and casually head down the next day stopping somewhere in between? Although I could bare it, I do not think my better half would be too thrilled bout doing 1000km's straight in a fixed back seat  I'm sure she would have something to say about that... you will not hear me complain though.

Any particularly good driving roads to take on the way back? even if they are detours? Good places to stay about half way where the car will be secure overnight? I am thinking port mac or coffs regions.. but yell at me if Im off the mark here

Cheers  B)

go via the New England highway, it's longer but more relaxing.

Stay in Armidale or Tamworth?

Yeah I do not mind that drive.. lot's of twisties going from the coast and into tenterfield/casino it is longer but if I have time on my side that may just work, there is always the hunter valley too.... hmmm maybe that is a bad idea? the hunter valley part

Congrats Amanda. Enjoy feeling like you have won a great lottery. There's something special about a Porsche road trip home in your new car.

When I bought Kerry's 964RS from Duttons, I flew one way, jumped in it and drove to Adelaide via the Great Ocean Rd, the Grampians and the Barossa. Great memories.

Same with the 1973 RS and the 993RS, with some variations.

Can't get enough of that GOR.

The GT3 came from Sydney so that involved a flight over and a week down the east coast. Kangaroo Valley and parts thereabouts.

I hope you might be able to do the detour over the snow country. Those roads are made for your car. All the best.

Hi Simon, I ended up doing the straight Hume route home. If memory serves me correct, I was on the road by 10am and reversing into my garage after 8pm!

I had a great day. Perfect weather and I barely stopped. All I wanted to do was drive!

As soon as it warms up, I'll be on the GOR!

My limited experience with the GOR has been stuck in tourist jams when it's beach weather.  Make it a winter run, roof down, heater up.

I hear ya... in Sept/Oct I'll do it probably. Up early and off I go!

down the new england then cross over to newcastle via thunderbolts way?

if you're taking a few days to do it, can loop off from glen innes to do the washpool national park loop to grafton and around to armidale or something.

General consensus seems to be New England, I might just have to follow that advice then! I got to admit it was longer (in one go) but a lot more scenic for sure... I really do not enjoy the pacific highway to be honest... Way too many different speed zones... It does my head in!

I was going to ask you Sam, will you be around next weekend?
