Hi Peter,

Welcome to the forum.

A 993tt that's a heck of a way to introduce yourself to the world of Porsche. I have spoken to a few top condition 993tt owners about their buying experience and they have all told me how unique the experience is. It seems that owners of these cars commonly don't have to sell so that throws the usual buyer/seller negotiating position out the door.

I am sure you won't ever regret the buying decision.

Enjoy the car. Enjoy the forum.

Great stuff Gary. What a car. My dads first Porsche was a targa back in the 70s. As a small boy I thought I was the king of the world sitting in the back seat enjoying the sound and talking cars with dad. Hope your new car gives something similar to your family. Vas. :)

I just have a look at your car today actually and wonder who own this car? you parked outside the apartments this afternoon.

yes, just got the car last week, and the 350z was sold.

The Targa 4 is much better car for work, can seat 4 people and have more storage space. The one thing I really love about the Targa is I can open the back window, fold down the back seat and put 900x600 (A1) board flat in. petty much I can carry about 15x 10mm A1 block mount in the Targa and still have a lot of space on the front boot.

Well Gary, I think you've managed to do what most of us have struggled to do - make a 911 into an effective WORK CAR!!!

Your's is practically a UTE!!!

You are right, I was parked there briefly today, next time I see you boys having a cigarette in the alley, I'll come and have a chat!

Cheers,

Kerry

Sorry Kerry,

We just quit smoking 3 weeks ago B)

feel much better now.

Yes, a "UTE", I like it, but it doesn't really look and feel like driving a "UTE"

Peter

Even Porsche produce a UTE, don't think many will be sold

better stick with the Merc and VW van for builder.

the Targa maybe good if you carry a lot of drawing to site, What I said was I can put a A1 (841x594) board flat in the car from the rear window open. it is very handy as I m a printer and developer.

if Porsche produce the Targa 4 turbo as a option, it would be nice.

Cheers

Gary

Hi all,

Another new member here. I am looking at buying my first Porsche and was hoping I could learn a thing or two before I take the plunge.

I am thinking mid eighties carrera 3.2 would be a good compromise in terms of initial outlay, reliability, creature comforts and performance. I intend to use is as a daily even though I have been warned they aren't that great for daily duties due to a heavy clutch and iffy gearbox shift - can any owners provide insight/opinions on this or any other aspect of living with a 3.2?

Cheers

welcome

a 3.2 is a great daily if you can find one for sale

they're so good that owners tend to hold on to them

clutch's are generally only heavy if they're at the end of their service life and gearboxes are fine as long as they haven't been abused
