the reasonable man seems to make little progress in today’s world.  You have to be prepared to go nuclear when the facts are on your side.

Nice one mate. Saves an assault charge I spose. Yet did/will you get your money back is the main question?

Yes Lee.  Funds will be transfered tonight even though the agency has not received my bond yet.   Kind of a good will thing.

  • 2 weeks later...

So today I had to pick up my wife from the hospital where she works. I was waiting for her outside the entrance, sitting in my Boxster parked in a line of cars. A middle aged lady who is dropping her mother off at the hospital pulls up beside me and bangs her drivers side door against my passenger side while getting out in a hurry. She see me, but as she is helping her elderly mother out of the car, I don't bother her while she is assisting her.

However after helping her mother she hurriedly gets back in to drive off. I now have to make a snap decision about whether or not to take her license plate details down. I see that there is at least one bit of visible damage, so decide to take a photo of her rear license plate.

At this point she opens her door and becomes verbally aggressive. "How dare you take a picture of my car?" "It serves you right for parking in a (completely legal) place where you can get hit by a car door" "Maybe you should think twice before parking there again (never mind the entire line of cars who are correctly parked in a similar position"

I'm half attempting to reason with her, and half attempting to block her door from hitting my car again as she swings it open again to get out. She then decides to get physically aggressive, and tries to repeatedly shove me. Keep in mind, she is about foot shorter than me and 15 years older at a guess. So the shoving is somewhat comical and definitely ineffectual.

The shoving and yelling is enough to attract the attention of the hospital employee who stands at the front entrance. He is telling her to calm down and to at least pull her car over to an empty space in front of me to stop blocking the entire flow of traffic through the hospital entrance.

But nope, she is busy blocking traffic and taking photos of me and my car, like I have somehow terribly wronged her. By this time I have had a bit more time to inspect the car. Her door has luckily only hit the plastic side air intake, and I have already managed to buff most of it out. I'm sure I can get it looking perfect at home. Even though the lady is acting like a complete loonie, I'm quite happy to let everything go.

Anyway one last serve at me before she drives off. The people outside the hospital and the driver behind are sympathetic to my situation, and give a couple of kind words. I'm mostly just happy that the door has hit the plastic rather than the paintwork.

*sigh* Crazy crazy lady.

Now correct me if I am wrong.

There is leaving the scene of an "accident" and assault.  Do you know anyone in the police force or legal game that can give her a scare ?

She needs it.

good thoughts Brian, but if it's similar to Victoria,

It's only an assault if the "victim" believes in their mind that, that person was capable of the actual assault and that they were put in fear..

And leaving the scene, of the accident, although I've never done the HP stuff, probably just a waste of everyones time if there is no real damage.

Put it down to experience, and just remember there out there and they also vote, unfortunately:(

Just to add on, forget the local copper putting a scare into her, by doing that Nowadays they will lose their job, if it is not an official report/complaint.

Coppers won't do that stuff anymore, times have changed.

Maybe a solicitor could send her a letter, but in the end she's just an ignorant old biddy by the sounds of it, and again I'd put it down to (a bad) experience.

Plus not forgetting.... she may have been under some duress with the person she was dropping off.   Not that that excuses her rudeness,

but it may end up with Ian looking like the bad guy, for having a go at her, while she was supposedly "in distress".

Your fault Ian, you're a man:( ….... white? Well then it's your fault twice :Speechless:

I was thinking along those lines, and then adding I'm a Porsche owning wanker = it's my fault x 10.

Thanks for the insider cop knowledge Niko :) Much appreciated

After she left and I was talking to everyone else while waiting for my wife, I begun to think along similar lines to what you said above. She was dropping her mother off at the hospital. She probably is under some stress with her mother's health. So maybe I should just give her a break. Even though it doesn't excuse her behaviour, it could partially explain it.

Thanks for the thoughts/comments everyone. Who would have thought venting on a public forum would be such effective catharsis!

Last Sat at the 356 Parade we had the gate shut about 10.30am (OH&S issues - don't ask) but was still letting stragglers in one by one as they arrived. About 12 pm there was a grey Mercedes hatch (ACY 566) parked in the drive, locked and no one present. It had been there for at least 10 minutes and we had to were tell a couple of our people to drive around the block. No idea where the owner was. I went to the tent and wrote a ‘Thank you for being totally inconsiderate’ note and went back to put it on the car windscreen. At that very moment a young hipster comes across the road carrying 2 coffees and yells at me for putting a sign on his windscreen. So, I proceed to give him a short talk on manners/consideration of others/selfishness and a character reference in my best persuasive manner and he threatens to call the cops. I call his bluff and tell him to go ahead. I advised him to fornicate away which he finally proceeded to do.

Thanks Niko, thought that there would be a catch...for the innocent party.

I was under the impression that assault was an unwelcome "touch" of any type,

cheers

Technically the "push or pushing" could be classed as an "unlawful assault" the bottom rung of assaults, but in those circumstances mentioned by Ian

the Brief of Evidence would not be approved to proceed.

Maybe, today, she is having a small panic now wondering what will happen with the photos taken at the scene of the crime.

Maybe, today, she  the person non Porsche driving  being, creature or non specific species of undetermined, unconfirmed gender or non gender specific is having a small panic now wondering what will happen with the photos taken at the scene of the "alleged" crime.

I had to change it to try not to offend.
