Anybody know anything about this 1977 911 SC thats been restored in Melbourne ?  Looks like a pretty good job.  Hard to price FMV though assuming PPI checks out well.

Any thoughts ?

It really depends what you want from a car ... If you want originality then this isn't quite it .... If you want a car that has all the work done and looks great, then this could be it.

There's a couple of things that pose questions ....

It used to have air but now it doesn't ...

The speedo is not the right one for this car ... so not sure why it was sent to the UK to be refurbished.

The door trims are wrong but he has said they are new lightweight ones.

The engine has been "worked" in order to have so much HP ...

I would also ask others who know more about the wheels ... I would have thought that 9 inch wheels on the rear would need the guards rolled in order to fit / look right ...

You would need to see it in person to gauge it yourself ...

Would be interesting to know what the upkeep and running cost are like on one of these .........Thats one that has been driven obviously this one hasn,t ....certain I read  some were the engine comes out every 15000 klm for major service ,,hate to think what it cost but I suppose if you spend over $1.5 Mill on a car then the running cost mean stuff all ...

I want a 997, Mrs Dave986 loves convertibles...this could be the compromise.

Thoughts on price? I think it's $5-10k over the mark but that just be me being a tight arse ?

Same year and my model as mine. Doesn’t have chrono and no sports exhaust. With those sort of k’s that’s coupe pricing, cabs always seem to have less of a price premium on them. I know it’s odd but the thing that sticks out to me is the chrome exhaust tips are filthy over time which then tells me how fastidious previous owners were...... (yes I have a problem..)

personally in this market I think the buying price should start with a 7 in it I think it’s about $10-$15k over the mark for a cab and the k’s.

Yes Dave, it's called the "Duttons Tax" ?

Could have an 05 987.1 Boxster S manual for sale soon if that's of interest......  Could be great compromise and much cheaper starting point, and  just a nice little step up from the 986.2.....  PM me if possibly of interest

Thanks for the early heads-up but if / when we upgrade, it’ll be to a 911.

After umming whether to go the GTS or the GT4. I think I will lean towards the GT4 :D Now there are 12 for sale on CS so if you guys think of ones which standout over others i'll look into it further. Happy to travel interstate to inspect as well. I'm in Victoria btw. 2 that stand out to me so far are the following.

https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-Cayman-2015/SSE-AD-5570163/?gts=SSE-AD-5570163&gtssaleid=SSE-AD-5570163&rankingType=Spotlight (Being Vic based, it's easier to inspect etc) is the owner on this site :)

 and this one in NSW.

https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-Cayman-2016/SSE-AD-5486047/?Cr=10 (Love the colour and a few nice options)

This one also in NSW.

https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Porsche-Cayman-2016/OAG-AD-15763457/?Cr=4 (Carbon ceramic brakes, although looks nice, i wonder if the car has had a hard time on track and also future replacement cost for the brakes themselves)

Thoughts anyone?

They arent that fragile and you try finding someone whos actually chipped or broken one , basically dont be afraid.

There are also options to replace if needs be ..
