Why wouldn't you just buy a 991 at that price?

This is where people come unstuck with pricing and diminished value.

As soon as you get pricing crossover to a newer model people will ignore yours.

997.2 daily driver anyone?     2008 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Auto MY09 (carsales.com.au)

That sold quick! $88.000. someone else had the same idea.

Question - has anyone ever seen a 997 in Aust in an interesting or unusual colour?  A mate has a brown one, can’t recall seeing anything else like it.

Unfortunately Porsche Cars Australia has gifted us with a decade or more of Silver variants and Black.  Colour was special order only 😕

No books, no wiggle, no want

At 31yo a proper PPI from a specialist will largely negate the need for service books.

There’s always wiggle room, esp if you’ve met in person and taken the car for a PPI

For me, there’s just no need for the story in the ad

Annoys the Fu<k out of me when I have to read through all the history of Porsche to try and find out what I really need to know about the particular car 🙄, and all to often the really important information is not there. 😡

Lots of blacks, white, grey, silvers, reds.  It'd then be yellows, or some of the metallic blues that were factory available such as (Aqua, Ice Blue Metallic) then I suppose anything of the standard palate that may have also been ordered in low numbers (macadamia etc) then paint to sample.

I have seen a 997.2 Carerra S coupe a while ago in Anthracite Brown. Quite a nice metallic darkish brown.                          Sorry just noticed Brown in your post😁

Does anyone know the story behind this car?

https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1980-porsche-911-930-turbo-3

Someone must have dropped the ball on this one.

The car owes money to Mac Bank with registered interest until 4/2024 (that is unless it's just paid off). I paid for a separate PPSR check and wouldnt be worth the headache.

Owner also mentioned car came into Australia in 1990.  From my understanding, Australian import compliance plates started in 1989 and it hasn't got one. No big deal, but just left me with some concern.

Biggest issue it had registered interest.

Pretty ordinary when the ad states the following:

This vehicle’s VIN has been checked against the Australian Personal Property Securities Register, and there is no security interest or other registration kind logged against the serial number. This vehicle has been checked through the Austroads NEVDIS system, and there are no markers under the written-off or stolen databases.

That explains what I thought was a low winning bid. The registered interest could have been dealt with at sale - wonder how much was owing.

The could be a surprise additional Buyers Fee! I wonder how much owed? I wonder if Collecting Cars are liable, considering they advertised it as having no security interest?

Possibly. You will then need to chase up the fees collected if there are issues from the seller  -  Which from my understanding is immediate.

yep - a bit of a pain. Particularly if CollectingCars didn't think there was an issue!

Anthracite Brown was only available in the 991.1 series. I use to have this colour on my previous 911 C2 - was stunning especially when in the sunlight .

I then became a true accountant and got my current 991.1 GTS in white 😆

Yeah, it was probably Macadamia on the 997.2. So many bloody colors on the Porsche colour chart.

Definitely have Anthracite over Macadamia Though.
