Recommended Posts

hi guys looking for a potential rod car and does anyone know anything about these two cars?

the last post I think he only wants 9k after finding another post of the same car and thought it might be a good build if the body is fair? Didnt seem to find anything here about them so apologies if it has already been discussed.

The yellow one has been discussed before, a little while back.

Haven't seen the black one before.  Laugh, yes it's a little 'ruff'.  It does have a wide body if that's what you're looking for (lol 'genuine' 74 wide body) and says a new targa top.  The rest looks like it needs work.  9K would seem like a good price for a running car though if you could get it for that.

thanks for the quick reply... ok will do some research to find the chatter on the yellow one

the black one is in poor condition but could be a project if the body is ok that era is pre gal is that correct? looking at the pics and zooming it might be a little more than I can deal with. but will find out shortly.

there appears to be a few on this site not on other common sites perhaps these are out of date and either sold or fake ads? so perhaps a little caution required.

That yellow one has been for sale for forever and a day .... at the time I was looking for one, it was highly priced being a Targa. Now, if it is still for sale, it's priced well in this market. You would have to call to see if it's still around .... I would be surprised if it is. It's now cheap if still the same asking dollars.

As a side note, it is in my back yard, so would be able to have an initial look for you if needed ....

Hmm thought it might be too good to be true. Lesson learnt if seems too good to be true it probably is...

well back to the drawing board and see what else may come up for a project car. Until then I will go back in to  mode.

Thanks for all your responses and I'm sure to find something else to stir an interest

I'm definitely in for a 996 turbo one day if the stars align.

They look fantastic and are ridiculously fast.

This thread is not yet 2 years old. It may well have shot itself in the foot!

Ha I remember the early days when we used to watch cars for a while and discuss them at leisure.  Then they started to sell and the turnover was good.  Then they started to disappear by the time you got to the thread and followed the links.  Now there's just nothing for sale.

Maybe when it's 4 years old there will be a *plethora* of vehicles to browse and discuss.

$60k - top money for a Targa with 300k and no records.   Looks nice though, looks like it has 7's and 8's on it.

Color combination is a little unusual - blue with champagne.

So will the owner will get the $60k or will it sit around for a while?

I came very close to buying a 996TT but missed out and then found my 930. Then I stumbled across my C3.2.

No regrets. But I'd let the c3.2 go if I could get into a manual 996TT for a reasonable additional spend. I also looked closely at GT3's but they've dried up and moved out of my reach.

I'm keeping the 930.

The 928 market has experienced the same changes - with the exception of healthy price increases. Twelve months ago, CarSales typically had 30+ 928s for sale at any one time, today - 16 cars online and that's been the norm for a long time now.

Similar story with 924s and 928s I believe ? Tassie has probably noticed the same trend

In recent months, international prices for 996 GT2 have been pushing high 100s and low 200s.   The most recent buy I know of was EVO editor nick Trott who paid equivalent of A$190k for a 996 GT2.  Magnus Walker was/is also chasing one.  Only 28 x 996 GT2 were delivered here and several have been wrecked so very hard to find now.

With favourable UK exchange rate and rumours of GT3s poached from Aus recently by the poms, I wouldn't be surprised if the next GT2 for sale goes to the UK.  They can afford to pay more in A$ than we can.

A TT is not as rare and "special" as a GT but they offer a whole lot of car for the money.  Very similar performance to GT2 for half the coin.  if someone offered to swap my GT2 for a TT and a hundred grand, it would be an interesting decision to have to make!

Weird, I quoted Claywong and typed my post and it appeared as shown above.  Sorry Claywong, not sure what went haywire there.

What about this http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-2007/SSE-AD-3388369/?Cr=33

Really as an urgent sale , you couldnt go far wrong hitting them up for 110-115k?

The 997 auto isnt that bad …those things go like a cut snake and you can change it back to black when your bored with the white

it's been on for a little while... I feel the seller would get a better result stripping the vinyl wrap and selling it bone stock.

Would be be great buying at the numbers you suggest!

Who knows what it's like underneath...that is probably the issue.  It's also had bumper changes...could it have had/needed repairs? Or was it all just in the name of "upgrades"  Buyer has a risk of uncovering a surprise. I do like it though.
