Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

A $120K SC?

Non standard tail, steering wheel and stereo. gas struts need gassing, worn carpets, speedo and odo in miles, tatty trunk and motor.

But "priced to sell quickly".  Doesn't look like a 68,000km example to me.

However, this 964 C4 looks the goods. Nice car:

the SC has had a minor price reduction? Anyone remotely interested I'll have a squiz...

Still can't figure current 964 discussion, last year sold my very immaculate low km c2 manual at the 'height' of the gold rush and found buyers rather sniffy ...

whats going on ...

 968 with highish km $25k http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-968-1992/SSE-AD-4257982/?Cr=0

I had alook at this last week end. Sloppy visable repair work using silicone to hold bits on.

Has any one else looked at this car or know its history?

Hi Brian,

I was the same as you - disappointed at the overall condition & mystified re the judicious use of silicone both externally & internally.

Re history the current owner (Clive) told me that he bought the car 2 years ago from an engineer in Lismore.  Prior to that he was vague.  I couldn't drive the car as Clive said there was a powers steering issue.

Is a real pity as I like the color scheme on this car, pity the condition is so dubious.  I suppose like anything for the right money it would be worth a punt however the seller & prospective buyers idea of the right money is often poles apart.  Clive certainly didn't seem receptive to my subtle inquiries re price negotiability.  He was adamant that the car was mechanically spot on & pretty clearly stated that the panel work & interior condition was irrelevant on a drivers car.

hope ths helps,

JE

Interesting...

He couldn't even start it for me as a coolant hose let go that morning. Proof was there was coolant on his garage floor so we had to roll it out of the garage to bring it in the light.

How tall are you Jason, I'm about 1750 and would say I don't fit with the present sunroof and electric seats set up in most  944/968. I've done a bit of research and find that you can get a little more head room by screwing around with the seat cushion & seat rails. Its starting to seem a little stupid to be spending 20 thousand plus for a 25 year car that doesn't fit me.

For this type of money there are better alternatives and some are not P cars.

Good hunting.

Brian in buddina

Question for you

$120k SC? It'd wanna be bloody good!

Maybe I should list my HK import for $90k with 'needs a little paint rectification but goes fully sick hard maaaate! Just needs a little paint rectification and it'll be a $120k car'!

I liked it as well had few more k's than I was looking for though. Had been tracked it was a nice car though

weird it's back up for sale similar k's (78k last time) and similar price in fact slightly less. Wonder why it's up again?

New to this forum, but I have been hanging around reading the comments for a few months.

I am interested in getting a Porsche and I have been watching car sales for some time, I really like the backdates as somewhat inspired by the look of the Singer. This seems to be the place to get the low down on cars for sale, and I have seen this one on Car Sales for some months, is anyone looked at this and why do you think it hasn't sold?

I think it is it overpriced, is this the only reason it hasn't sold, or does it have other issues??

I think it is the price.....it's a big ask for a backdate.

You certainly can't fault the quality.

Cheers,

Geoff.

that car took my eye too.  However it was last advertised for $115,000 so the current owner intends to flip for an extra $15k!

It would seem that it's overpriced as its been on the market for some time. Whilst backdates have their appeal there is quite a broad difference between what I would consider a good one vs a not so good one. The devil is in the detail, backdating a 964 is quite challenging to get them looking 'right' as they have a lot of areas that don't favour older period parts. I'd suspect as per Michel's comment below best to get in touch with Symsy as I believe he has inspected the car previously.
