I don't care!!Like what YOU like & let the others chase their dream cars I say. I'd love a manual but for everyday usability on today's busy roads give me a tip/ sporto/ auto anyday. And Targas are bloody nice in my books. If only you could get a decent Air conditioner that didn't cost a kidney.........

I always thought they were Porsches name for an Auto, until @Michel threw me the keys to his a few weeks ago. They are still a manual, just without a clutch. I love a manual, and I would have a sporto over an auto (or tip for that matter) anyday. trm

I assume they work similarly not having ever driven a Sporto Porsche myself.

It is something a bit different to get used to.

Mike-S Posted 19September, 2016 Report Share Posted 19September, 2016 (edited) It sold for so much because two old fellas were spending their super on registrations and classic cars on the night, they bid it up to $84k in no time. They had no idea nor were they interested in the history or condition of the car is my impression, I just stood there laughing to myself.Same night an 87 911 in red went for $100k, that was by far the better investment in my view and set the "value" of such cars for me. A few genuine stone chips on the body but nothing detracting from the car, unlike the blue car that looked like it had been shot with a blunderbuss. The CTS arrow blue car isn't the same car, unless someone's changed the entire interior (it had blue pasha) Edited 19September, 2016 by Mike-S turboT
James P Posted 19September, 2016 Report Share Posted 19September, 2016 Didn't CTS have this same arrow blue SC for sale about a year ago it has the new modern AC kit fitted...?
GusTV Posted 19September, 2016 Report Share Posted 19September, 2016 Either Autohaus or CTS had the arrow blue for sale in the 90k range in the last year. If same car it was very nice and yes had the modern a/c kit

ScottyP Posted 20September, 2016 Report Share Posted 20September, 2016 The 996 Carrera 4S we were talking about a few days ago got a price drop today. $58,888:http://carsales.mobi/cars/details/2003-Porsche-911-Carrera-4S-996/SSE-AD-4118940 Now apparently sold. Last advertised price was $55k. Not a bad buy if it was sold for <$55k, assuming history and condition checked out. Very nice 968 with 131,000km at $35,000:http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-968-1993/SSE-AD-4248501/?Cr=10Also now apparently sold. Word was it wasn't anywhere near as nice as the photos suggested, including non-matching engine. PK010 and Peter M

Not a bad buy if it was sold for <$55k, assuming history and condition checked out. Also now apparently sold. Word was it wasn't anywhere near as nice as the photos suggested, including non-matching engine. The 968 was nowhere near as nice as the pics indicated - non matching engine was the least of its issues (much to the seller's surprise, feigned or otherwise!). The car had been through a laundry list of owners, had some curious deferred maintenance, front end paint was completely different shade from the remainder of the car. At first blush it looked straight and original, but it was one of those cars that, the more one dug, the more one found not to like, or at least to query. It drove OK and I suspect the most recent owner has tried to do the right thing maintenance-wise, but it seemed to have had a fairly tough life before that - who knows what the mileage is on the engine but the top end seemed to have little wear from what we could see. Good luck to the new owner - at the right price, it would be an OK driver and the interior was pretty nice (with the exception of the broken under-dash bits where it seemed to have suffered a theft incident). Unfortunately, a wasted PPI...
