roodog911 Posted 27September, 2013 Report Share Posted 27September, 2013 I haven't seen many motors for sale on AS. One option could be to look O/S, particularly the USA. However it will take a while to get here which may not suit your needs. Also, buying a motor sight unseen from the USA has its risks - you may just end up with another motor that needs rebuilding. If you Google for 911 motors in the US you should get a few returns.
OZ930 Posted 28September, 2013 Report Share Posted 28September, 2013 I'd try and get an engine the same as or close to the original engine, that way you can swap parts as needed to keep running and when you have finished the rebuild you have a lot of spares. Can also be good for "where did that part come from?" scenarios that sometimes arise. There is a Porsche dismantlers here in Australia where you could possibly get an engine. bayx Posted 28September, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 28September, 2013 Yeah I believe that one is at zagautomtive I rang before this add and they had a 3.2 for sale but were asking $ 10500 I thought I'd shop around before spending that kind of money. I might go check the 2.4 out in person And I'll give performance 9 a ring Thanks for all the replys Keep any other ideas coming

tk111 Posted 28September, 2013 Report Share Posted 28September, 2013 I would suggest you search this vendors feedback on the pelican forums. Lots of interesting stories, not many positive.
Doish13 Posted 28September, 2013 Report Share Posted 28September, 2013 In a round about way thank goodness as those prices I noted tonight were nauseating - in the end you get what you pay for Edit- I've read a few threads, you may not even get that! SteamWolf Posted 29September, 2013 Report Share Posted 29September, 2013 Motor Meister has a terrible reputation if the threads on Pelican Parts are anything to go by. I think you'd be better off buying a $800 car with rego from gumtree and leaving the Porsche off the road for the duration of the engine build. bayx Posted 30September, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 30September, 2013 Thanks Steamwolf I'm starting to think the same as you (minus the 800 gumtree car part I've even been looking at whole porsches for sale.
