jeffa32 Posted 27September, 2013 Report Share Posted 27September, 2013 Hi All I am currently living in the Uk for a couple of years on a work contract and am looking to take advantage of the UK prices for 997's gen 2 and export the car back to Australia when i return. The UK and Australian design rules are different, with the Aus rules requiring a top tether point for child seats. These tether points are not obvious in the UK 997 Gen 2. They maybe under the fabric on the parcel shelf in the coupe but I cant see where they could be on the convertible. It would be great appreciate if any owners on a 997 Gen2 coupe and convertible to post a picture showing the tether points so I could understand if these could retrofitted. If any members have any further advise on this subject, it would be welcome Thanks Jeff
Aussie944S Posted 27September, 2013 Report Share Posted 27September, 2013 I think this has been posted before mate.... but talking with the dealer would point you in the right place also.
jeffa32 Posted 27September, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 27September, 2013 I searched the posts but couldn't find a definitive answer. I have also been to 2 Porsche dealership to ask for their help (ie speak to Germany of their colleagues in Australia) without success. Hence the post. Appreciate any photos Cheers
Orion03 Posted 27September, 2013 Report Share Posted 27September, 2013 997, they are under the carpet, you have to cut the carpet and lift it and you'll find it see this thread
jeffa32 Posted 28September, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 28September, 2013 Thanks Orion. If anyone has photos of a possible solution to the cabriolet, that would be great. I did notice a couple of plastic plugs next to the roll over bar on the cabriolet - the black circle on the left of the photo below shows what I am talking about. Ignore the green arrow. Orion03 Posted 29September, 2013 Report Share Posted 29September, 2013 Hmmm, cab... no idea I haven't heard of a solution for this either, while you are in the UK you could get the latch system installed into the front passenger seat with the airbag de-activator? Aussie944S Posted 29September, 2013 Report Share Posted 29September, 2013 Without seeing it personally I'm betting they would be on the back of the seats under the carpet or under the top bit of plastic looking kidney shaped bits. Just remember everything can be glued back on if its not meant to come off....
helga Posted 8November, 2013 Report Share Posted 8November, 2013 I've posted this in about 3 different areas. 1978 911 anchor points- if there aren't any they have to be engineered. Any advice available out there?
Ghost981 Posted 21October, 2021 Report Share Posted 21October, 2021 Yes, you would need to contact a place that does custom tether points, they would assess the car and find an appropriate anchor point. Since it is custom, it is costly. A company in Victoria called "Safe in Motion" quoted me $1000 just to take the carpet and seats out to have a look. I'm sure it would be cheaper on any 911.
