911 Window interchangeability.

Hi Guys,

 

Random question but does anyone know if any of the windows front, sides or rear are interchangeable between the models?

 

Got me thinking after seeing a vid which mentioned the front windscreen on some are.

The front windscreen is the same from 1964-1989.

 

From 1984 there were some variations of the front windscreen which incorporated a demist element. The shape and fit is still the same.

 

The door glass is the same for this period as well, with the exception of 1965-1969 where the small 1/4 windows were opening type.

 

Door glass is the same 1974-1989, as are the frames.

 

Rear 1/4 windows were pop out type from 1964-1977, so the frames are different to 1978 -1989

 

1978 - 1989 the rear glass and frames were the same, The glass is the same 1964 - 1989.

 

964/993 glass and frame differs (1990-1997) in that the seals are different and they were a bonded in type as opposed to a seal and clip arrangement.

 

The front window is essentially the same shape 1964 - 1998, however the way its installed changed!
