there's a drive already organised, on the North side of Sydney:

Here are the details of the Register Drive on Sunday 16th February.
I am repeating a popular drive/venue from 2012.
Meet at the usual venue old toll gates/truck rest area at Berowra 8.00 to 8.30 for 8.30 departure.
Onto Motorway. We won't go up the Old Pacific Highway because it is 60kmh limited, full of cyclists, motorcyclists and police  on a Sunday morning.-coming off at Calga interchange. Then up Peats Ridge Road and veer left onto George Downes Drive turn right at Springs Road Kulnura down Bumble Hill Road  and then on Yarramalong Road and down Yarramalong Valley.Pulling into the Amazement Cafe at Wyong Creek.
The drive should take about 90 mins.

From the cafe it is a short drive onto the M1 at Tuggerah.

If you wish to join this, I suggest you contact John Shingleton who is the organiser, on

Hey Guys,

I was thinking of just doing something Sunday morning, with say an early start (07:30?) and getting home around 10:00-11:00ish if that's doable? I think Sydr's suggestion is probably a little long by the time we travel down from Newie, but happy to be advised otherwise.

I am in Bar Beach and happy to meet up anywhere that's central for all of us. Whilst I have lived in Newcastle a couple of times before, it was many years ago when I last had a sports bike, so keen to get the info on nice roads. So in short, no preferences on route.

If people are tight for time we can always just meet up for a brew and bit of BS :-)

Roo,

We could do a variation of the NSW Club drive where we meet at the southbound Wallsend servo at say 7.30am and drive the 45 minutes down to Yarramalong for coffee and BS (the café opens at 8.30am and the Club is expected at 10am) and then travel further along Yarramalong Road, Bumble Hill Road, Spring Road, George Down Drive and Peats Ridge Road before returning via the motorway, Palmers Road and Wakefield Road?

G'day Peter, that's sounds good to me. What road is the Wallsend servo on?

Just checked the BOM, and 'areas of rain' is currently forecast. How about we do a final weather check on Saturday evening and post a go/no go decision on the forum then?

Cheers

Antony the southbound or westbound Shell servo is on Thomas street and is near the start of the m1 freeway link road.

I think the weather may beat us.

Also there is another coffee shop/bakery that has opened in the old Wyong dairy farmers factory which is quite good as well, the location is just off the Hue Hue road turn left to go into Wyong across the freeway overpass and it is on your right, blink and you will miss it.

Anthony,

Why not?

The worst we can get is wet and do some planning for a run next week!

The BOM forecast for the central coast is:

Central Coast area.

Cloudy. Rain, easing to scattered showers in the afternoon. The chance of thunderstorms. Winds north to northwesterly 20 to 30 km/h becoming west to northwesterly and light in the morning then tending southerly 20 to 30 km/h in the middle of the day.

The forecast for Newcastle is worse....
