Good deed for the day!

Us 'Porsche' Folk, we're hated by some, loved by others and generally known as 'those snobby bastards'

It's quite sad to think about it, I know no one on this forum is like that! :)

A few days ago, I was driving with a mate in the 944 to catch up with another mate just off swan st, near church street. On the way there down city road, we saw a few guys trying to push a mini bus that looked like it broke down off the road. We thought there's no way that they're going to push that bus to the curb. I pulled over, we got out and helped push it to the curb (in front of Aston Martin)

He has a bus full of tourists who just came back from the GOR so it must have been a long day!

I asked what happened and if there's a way i could help out. He goes that he's sure he's ran out of fuel and that if i could take him to the servo so he could get some fuel. My mate had stayed back to look after the bus while i returned.

The guy couldn't thank me enough that now he could go take everyone home and finally call an end to the day

I drove off feeling good that i've just helped someone when they most needed it.

Good Karma they say?

And i know how shit it is being stuck, especially when it's raining and no one want's to help you push the car off the road.

Anyone helped anyone lately? love to hear your story  :)

That's great, not sure I would be so accommodating on such a crappy day but who knows until it occurs. I helped someone the other day but I forget who or what it was. I am sure I did it though.

Taking the 944 for a quick squirt this morning and I just took of from the lights turning left not far from home and all hell breaks loose in front of me.

I see two legs upside down over the front of a bonnet of car and two guys on pushy's taking evasive action, one not so lucky.

I do the oh shit thing and pull over and to my surprise the young guy gets up from under the front of the car, meanwhile his old man is absolutely tearing strips of this poor woman for hitting him.

I make sure the young kid is ok and then go to see how the woman is doing, shaking uncontrollably and by now the guy abusing her is apologising, I let him know he should not be so brutal towards her, no one does this on purpose.

After it all settles down I help the kid find his bike computer and his stuff that looked as though it just exploded off his bike.

By now the kid who got hit starts to realise what has happened to his bike, she had run over the wheels and bent the frame, poor kid was a tough nut, had some bark off him but he couldn't stop the tears from welling up in his eyes as his $4000 pushy was totalled.

A very lucky boy in that he wasn't seriously injured.

Not as noteworthy as your good deed Pauly but I thought I would share it.

Don't want to crap on your good Karma, but we had friends around for lunch today. One was telling us that her cousin stopped to help a 'stranded' car in Canberra a few weeks ago and once she was out, the other driver ran to her car and stole it!!

Her baby was in the back of the car and the cops found it about a 1km away, with baby still in the back...

I know each of these situations you have to assess on it's merits (ie. a bus full of obviously-tourists is probably a fair guess at safe)...but there's some evil people out there!

Ohh that's not a nice site! The old man shouldn't be abusing anyone. The road is to be shared and there's a reason it's called an accident!

As long as they're alright.

:)

I hear ya!

I always take precautions doing that. When i stopped. Car went off. Keys in my pocket at all times.

  • 2 years later...

I thought i would revive this thread.

I was in Katoomba yesterday and was heading to see if i could get a park near the 3 Sister's, yeah i know haven't been since I was a kid ok. Anyway there was some people trying to cross the road with an elderly lady so i eased off and motioned for them to cross, friendly waves exchanged after they cross then he signals to me do i want his carpark, ok then sounds good, then he comes over and gives me his parking ticket that he has put money in the machine to park.

It had 2 hrs left on it and very close to the viewing area, on my way back to the car i did the same and passed my ticket on to a young lady who was very happy to find it had an hour and a half left on it to park.
