POSTED ON BEHALF OF PORSCHE CLUB CANBERRA

PCC will be holding its annual track day at Wakefield Park on Monday 10 March 2014; the Canberra Day public holiday.

The track day is a lot of fun and is an opportunity for all members to run their cars in the natural environment for our cars, namely the racetrack. The day is structured around ensuring everyone has a great time and we are careful to seed drivers and cars into groups that are reflective of speed and experience, so you do not have to worry about being on the track with cars that are much slower or faster than you.

Registration

Participants on the day need to pre-register with myself in order to comply with our insurance requirements and to ensure that cars are effectively seeded on the day. If you are interested in participating please complete the registration form available on the club website (and read the supplementary regulations - especially the self-scrutineering form) and provide a signed copy to me via email at: motorsport@porsche-club-canberra.org.au

Licencing, Attire and Preparation

Participants on the day need to wear clothes that cover you from neck to wrist to ankle. All clothes including socks and underwear must be non-synthetic (i.e. cotton or wool) and you must wear fully enclosed non-synthetic shoes (e.g. leather uppers not nylon running shoes).

You will also need a competition licence such as a Level 2S or get a AASA licence issued on the day for about $50 from Wakefield Park's office (not from the club).

Ensure your car is in sound condition. You will be driving much faster and harder than you do on the road and you need to check that your car is in good condition.

Location

Wakefield Park was constructed in 1994 and has been built with club track days, like ours, in mind with good control tower, paddock facilities, carports and lots of run off. The circuit is 2.2 kilometres long, with an reasonable length straight leading to a section of uphill bends with the loop at the top of the hill and then a downhill run into the fun but frustrating fish hook section and finishes with a negatively banked last turn onto the main straight, the circuit is both challenging and fun with a reasonable amount of safety. Wakefield Park also has a canteen which will be open on the dayand will provide snacks, food and drinks.

Wakefield Park is about 10Km south of Goulburn on the Braidwood Road (i.e. Goulburn to Braidwood Rd). There are two ways to get to Wakefield: the easy way and the fun way! Both take about one hour from the ACT/NSW border. This means you need to leave home about 7:00am.

Cost

The event is open to PCC members ($130) and non-members ($160). It would be appreciated if you could make payment to the club’s bank account via EFT prior to the day. The club’s bank account details are as follows:

Name: Porsche Club Canberra

Bank: St George

BSB:112-908

A/C No: 05051 5512

Reference: your surname

The day is always a lot of fun and is something that all Porsche owners should do at least once.

If you would like any further information regarding the track day please do not hesitate to contact myself or any other Committee member and we will provide advice and assistance.

Cheers

Steve Allan

Hi All,

Just a reminder for anyone outside of Canberra - there's still spots available for this - it's a bargain at $160 for the day for non members - and totally worth the two hour drive from Sydney!
