It's been described as England's greatest sporting event, that just happens to take place in France.

Porsche's reputation as a world leader in endurance racing was built here. Heck, you need look no further than the pic of the 917 in the PFA banner to see how important endurance racing is to Porsche's heritage.

All eyes will be on Porsche this year with their return to the top level of Le Mans competition, and Aussie eyes will be hoping that Mark Webber can put them on the top step of the podium.

Diarise Sunday, June 15 as the evening to join Autohaus Hamilton at the Willoughby Hotel in Chatswood from 7pm until the finish.

I weren't going to bother opening this thread until i saw the tag Beach Volleyball....

Now i'm disappointed.

Not because there is no beach volleyball, but because there is no Autohaus Hamilton in Melbourne!

Now, what was that about swimsuit edition......

I'm hoping to be there, got a very tempting invite from Audi, dirty word round here I guess, to be a guest this year.... Now to convince the wife I should go...

Convince the wife?

You have got to be joking.

You have an invite from Audi the company that has won Le Mans 12 times out of 13 years and you have to ask the wife.

Whatever happened to men in the Western World.

Jeez, grow a pair Nath.

Of course I'm assuming the Audi are paying otherwise it is not an invite it is just a gimmick to get you to spend money.

Le Mans is warming up...official testing starts on Saturday, which should give us a clear indication of what to expect on the Big Day.

In addition to the 919 running in the LMP1 class, there are 2 911 RSR's running in LMGTE Pro and another 6 running in LMGTE Am.  In both LMGTE classes the competition will come from Ferrari's and Corvettes.

Absolute pleasure Caver, and it was a delight to have such a great turnout.

No doubt Porsche will be back next year, with even more Teutonic determination to add to the Aussie grit.

As far as I'm aware, last night's furthest traveller to the Willoughby was from Tasmania...so that's the gauntlet down for next year to see if that record can be improved upon.
