tazzieman Posted 21March, 2014 Report Share Posted 21March, 2014 Hi all Need to get spares for the '81 shark ; have been told no-one in Hobart has the jig. Can anyone recommend a Melbourne locksmith who doesn't charge the Porsche tax? The guys here managed to decode the pattern ; I'm impressed. smule Posted 21March, 2014 Report Share Posted 21March, 2014 Amalgamated Locksmiths in Smith st Collingwood are used and recommended by Porsche Center Melbourne... they've helped me out in an emergency cutting me a spare key off a code for the Cayenne when the wife locked the keys in the car .. (dont ask !!!) The bigger problem you may have is not the lack of jig, rather someone not having the right key blade...give these folks a call and see if they can help you out... tazzieman Posted 21March, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 21March, 2014 Thanks mate , I got shunted to two other places , the last one can do them though prefer to have the car there. But this guy can do it from a photo for 1/3 the Porsche Special Price 928 security was too good for its own good, special bevelled keys. I'll feedback in due course. dan_189 Posted 7September, 2017 Report Share Posted 7September, 2017 Just called them they can either do it off my current key or I can provide them with the code I'd have to get off the dealership. They sound like they know what they are doing though which is a good start! Coastr Posted 7September, 2017 Report Share Posted 7September, 2017 Having spoken to a few locksmiths/key guys when I was sorting my keys out - it doesn't take long in a conversation to see if they know their stuff or are keen to put it into the too hard basket.Hint: find someone with grey hair and a drawer full of key blanks they are hanging onto 'just in case'

Peter M Posted 7September, 2017 Report Share Posted 7September, 2017 For those who don't wish to leave the house I've used Keys 4 Classics a few times with satisfaction. He even decodes from a photograph if needed for an extra 10 bucks.http://www.keys4classics.com/ Bugger, he doesn't do keys for you modern guys in your post '98 spaceships! Coastr Posted 7September, 2017 Report Share Posted 7September, 2017 I think I paid a scratch over $100 for two keys cut and the ignition lock tumblers reset to match the door key. But that is old school keys, newer keys may cost more.
