firehorsestar Posted 22March, 2014 Report Share Posted 22March, 2014 I am currently living in the UK. I am looking at buying a 1977 Porsche 911 3.0 S Coupe here in London. It's painted Minerva blue has tartan plaid interior and is in exceptional condition inside and out. 100k miles on the clock with a top end rebuild at 86k. Has all service history, 4 owners. I would like to send it back to Australia when I return later this year. The asking price is 39k GBP. As I am new to Porsche,s, is this price too high for what it is? How much would it sell for in Australia? As I don't want to pay over the odds if I can get the same car in Australia for less. Cheers, Barry
hugh Posted 22March, 2014 Report Share Posted 22March, 2014 Hi Barry, Sounds like a nice car. You can pick up a good Aus delivered original 3.0 carrera for around $60 -70k here although they are becoming pretty rare on the market. Values are heading north as a result. For a UK delivered car you can generally apply the 10-20% reduction in local market value so it sounds like what your looking at is priced at the top end if you were to try and sell it here in Oz. Hope that helps. Cheers, Hugh.
michel Posted 23March, 2014 Report Share Posted 23March, 2014 Hi Barry agreed though in past 12 maths some have been on the market for less than 70k
Ben C3.o Posted 24March, 2014 Report Share Posted 24March, 2014 Hi Barry, My interpretation of exception is generally different to others but here is my opinion. I have been watching the Carrera 3.o market in Australia very closely for the last 14months or so. For the money their asking you could step into a nice Australian delivered C3.o for 70k, if you can find one someone is willing to part with. With 1GBP buying 1.82AUD at the moment your talking around 71k plus the cost of shipping compliance etc etc. You wouldn't get the same car in the described condition in Australia for less. I had PPI's carried out on three of the four C3.o's I have seen advertised in the last 14months. They all needed 20k+ spent on them to bring them to excellent condition (not exceptional in my opinion) placing the value of them around 75-85k. The resale value I would think would be as Huge suggests, 20% less than an Australian delivered version depending on condition etc. If it is exceptional and passes a rigorous PPI then it could be worth shipping it back to Oz. Your chances of finding one here are slim I would think. I have only seen 3 advertised on carsales in the last 14 months. I bought mine before it even hit the market and apparently most of them are selling like that presently. Of the four I have seen sold in Australia recently they all needed either a retrim and or respray, a full engine rebuild, and top end and box rebuild or a combination for two of the three. Any chance of a link to the car or posting some pictures? Cheers Ben
76 C3.0 Posted 25March, 2014 Report Share Posted 25March, 2014 I'm assuming that's the one listed on ebay that you are looking at. It does look exceptional with great owner history. Big $ though. There is another on ebay in Platinum owned by Elton John. Been for sale for at least 6 months.
firehorsestar Posted 26March, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 26March, 2014 Thanks for the info. I looked for the car on the web but it looks as if it has been pulled from sale.
