EOI:Winter Scotch Night Sat 28th of June.

Recommended Posts

Same set up as last time but without the mag artical or guest Porsche aust loan car. Maybe A.H and Just James would like to bring along a project car we could all have a drool over?

I'll looking at dates now so if you want to come along let me know. Non scotch drinkers welcome but it must be stated this night is not a pi$$ up it's about a quite dram and a chat.

I know you guys are all grown ups but its worth mentioning :)

Interstaters and others are more than welcome and I happy to put you up for the night. I'll provide the food as per normal but it's simple roast cooked on a woodfire with a roll.

Locked in for the 28th of June. If you are driving your pride and joy I live in a very quite location and can fit everyone in my drive and close the gates. So we wont have any drama there at all.

happy to have a passenger if someone in QLD wants to come down too, or drive down together (I'll be going via the new England with an overnight in Tamworth)

Excellent stuff Martin!  Some suggested dates.

28-29th June

12-13th July

19-20th July

Note that 6th July is the "Xmas Drinks in July" proposed by Harold.

I am happy to host a scenic drive route up from Sydney for those who would like a bit of a SMT beforehand.

Uncle,

I will try to get a Sullivan's Cove French Oak (batch 525), if I can't get that batch (highly likely), I'll just get what batch I can.

Plan B would be a Talisker 18

Yeah I just finished a bottle of SC french oak my BIL sent up to me. Nice drop.

You can't go wrong with the Tali either! Was my dram of choise till I found Ardbeg.

I'm Keen!

thinking of taking the 27th and 30th off. Leave Brisbane on the 27th to Tamworth, then Tamworth to Newcastle on the 28th and the reverse over the next 2 days?

The one bottle of batch 525 I found on eBay is $1800 so I don't think I will be bringing one of those sorry  I can't imagine their batches being too far departed from each other.... I'm sure the winning 525 batch is being sensationalised..... to a degree... just maybe

I'm keen Martin, lock me in, also I will take a place to roll my sleeping bag out :) thanks.

I am open to suggestions on what scotch to bring, as my previous experiences have all been in the world of the blended type with a dash of coke or dry.

Very good advice from Mr Wolf.

A good rule of thumb is the lower you go to sea level the bigger the scotch. Think of it in high level terms like this. Highlands are like a Merlot and Islay are like a Shiraz. Sometimes you want an easy drinking light flavour and sometimes you want A SCOTCH.
