Ideal RSR Colour Combination

Recommended Posts

Clearly there are a pile of different colour combos, however out of the following options what do we think is the best if you were building up a RSR backdate.

Grey with orange carrera decals

Orange with black carrera decals

Ivory white with orange decals

Clearly these combos will not be to everyone's taste but keen on views. Would be against a black interior with leather / houndstooth seats.

They all look good IMO. I guess it depends on what you want to build, classic 70's build can scream colour but something like that grey (almost a darker primer) looks pretty contemporary on a retro 70's recreation.

If I bought a car to do this that had an interesting original colour I'd keep it- makes the decision a lot easier!

Like the other I like the grey because it's different but for me I would be tossing up between Viper Green or Continental Orange. Signal Orange not so much but depending on what the period correct colour was for an RSR.

Colour doesn't matter, they all look great!

(IMHO - What's makes the difference is that if they have chrome headlight surrounds, they must have bright anodised window surrounds too otherwise it looks like the builder lost interest and rushed the finishing.)

Hi

Have you described your build on another thread there? I'd be keen to see as I'd love to do one myself some time? What did you use as the base car? Is it a frankensrsr?

EXTERIOR DELIMA

Thanks for the opinions on colour.

I had hoped there would be a clear winner but the voting looks very evenly matched.

I really like the grey, as a number of you point out gives thar car a very contemporary look and great accent with the polished /chrome surrounds. Drawback is it is not really period and lacks a little theatre.

I am warming up to orange (I will need to do some homework on shades). Just not sure if a houndstooth seats would clash with the orange?

White has the advantage that for $200 you can change the appearance with a new sticker kit. Gives the option of orange, red, green, blue and black all true to the original colours, plus the hounds tooth will look sensational.

I am still torn and confused, however life is good when this is a big dilemma. Still some time to decide.

INTERIOR DILEMMA

I have a few more dilemmas to post and seek your council on. Next delimina is interior materials. Going for an all black interior including a RS dash and the basket weave glovebox facia strip with the aluminium highlights. Will put a lakewell RSR carpet kit in (or similar) plus protipo wheel. Has RS door trims.

I am toying with adding some alcantera, most likely for the dash but also potentially the doors. I think the headliner will just be too obscure and I won't appreciate it given the cost.

Does any one have any experience with alcantera? How does it wear?

What does the team think?

Our Carerra S headliner is alcantara and it looks fantastic, a friend also has replaced his headliner in his R32 with alcantara in a matching light grey for his interior and it looks brilliant. No wear issues to speak of.
