Alloy Wheel Nuts

I want to buy 6-8 of alloy wheel nuts for my 911. One in particular but others are showing signs of wear and I want to replace them before they become a problem. I thought I would also replace the keyed anti theft nuts as well  as they are more hassle than they are worth.

My BBS wheels have covers over the wheel nut area so if they are not all black or are showing signs of wear as long as they are reasonable condition is all I am concerned about.

my guess is they're starting to round off (as mine are even when using the exact socket for them). I don't think he cares about the colour, more the condition

will these do? - might be a bit expensive for a lot of them though

Russ- with free postage these are good value -from Pelican Parts they are USD$5.15 but then there would be about $50 postage added. But brand new unbattered wheel nuts? I would probably have to replace them all.

not certain  of your exact Q...have you considered having your existing re anodised?

Russ is right below.

Exactly right-also I want to replace the 4 keyed anti theft nuts. They really are a pain and one day I know I will not have the keyed socket with me (yes, I do keep it in the car), get a flat and not be able to remove the wheel.

Also I have almost a full set of Porsche studs and keyed anti theft studs and keyed socket (studs not wheel nuts) off a GT3 if anyone is interested.

A guy I may or may not have been in high school with may or may not have had a thing going with car wheels at one stage. Allegedly. Or not.

Anyhow, he may have indicated that those wheel nuts with the funky little holes and the special socket weren't a problem for people who may or may not steal wheels as they just use a spark plug socket and a hammer and smack the plug socket onto the nut then simply undo it.

i hear what you are saying-there is always a way around almost any security device depending on the amount of time and trouble they want to take.

Anyway, why steal the wheels when you could take the whole car- a 24 year car could not be that hard to hot wire and I prefer if they did only take the wheels

Allied wheel nuts? Yes we are :D .

I have refurbed a set of wheel nuts by rubbing them on a sheet of sandpaper to get rid of the rough edges, and hitting them with etch primer and paint.

Yes it's labour intensive,  but you know aluminium alloy comes at a great energy cost to the planet , and I have to offset my 928 emissions.

Some of my wheel nuts are so well rounded they are beyond saving - not even 25 years old and worn out-it's hard to find quality
