A local told me about a road that runs past the Hinze Dam, lots of curves and good surface. Anyone know of such?

Drove it last week (albeit with a sleeping 1yo in back seat, so was very careful in corners). Road deterioted greatly as soon as I crossed the Nsw border.

I posted pics in "where did u drive"

Yes it's pretty bad once you cross the border, we wont be going that far south.

^ wot he said...

I've not been on that route but with an 8am get away I'd be planning to be back in Brisbane by midday...unless things get exciting like last time  :D

Exciting? Whatever are you referring to?

Might be heading up to Noosa to check out the hillclimb Saturday so probably not going to make this drive.

Cheers Al

no worries, see you (and Marti) at the cars and coffee and hopefully the next drive (which is in the SMT section now)

Is the hillclimb on this weekend coming?

From Al's post I would assume so, either that or Al is going to be there when it's not on (which seems unlikely)

The Autobarn -  Noosa Hill Climb is held on Gyndier Drive Tewantin and consists of a track with 14 corners winding through State Forest. This event caters for grass roots motor sport and keeps spectators entertained with thrills and spills of close competition.

This year we are hosting the Porsche Club Queensland to celebrate their 40th Year Anniversary, there will be a large number of PCQ members competing as it is part of their club championship calendar. They will also be having a display of Porsche cars along Gympie Terrace on the Saturday night.

Noosa Autobarn Hill Climb is classed as one of the premier hill climb events in Australia. It has attracted such notables as Vern Schuppan, Kevin Bartlett, Dick & Steve Johnson just to name a few.

With such a broad range of makes and models competing such as the Skelta, XU1s, Minis, Fiats, GTs, Jags, Open Wheel Hill Climb Specials and too many more to mention. There is sure to be at least one car that will stir your passion.
