Pauly Posted 17July, 2014 Report Share Posted 17July, 2014 I finally got around to watching Eric Bana's Documentary "Love The Beast" If you haven't seen it, i strongly urge you to watch it!! Some of you can relate to this, some of you will understand it and some might not get it. I totally can relate to it (maybe not the 25 years). I'm 22, I've had my car since i was 17. (5 years) it's my first car, first porsche. My dad had a 924 from new (still has it!!) i have books on the 944, posters ect. Never thought i'd get one But i did. When i first got it, we put it on the hoist, and went though it, replace what was necessary and got it registered in vic. Though out the 5 years of ownership,I've blown 2 head gaskets (one was original, other over heated) blown the turbo.. 160,000k's did well. Pulled the engine out for a full rebuild, pulled the gearbox for a refresh with gear linkages. Pulled the interior for a once over. I know this car back to front. Right now it's sitting in the garage, with half of an engine waiting for new valves (if they could come any quicker!!) and there has not been any moment thinking "i should get rid of it, i don't drive it" or anything like that. I don't need to drive it to enjoy it, I see it every day in the garage. I know it's there, It's apart of me.

Norm Posted 17July, 2014 Report Share Posted 17July, 2014 You don't have to be a fan of any particular car to enjoy Bana's doco. Great story. I think everyone on this forum would understand how he feels. And yes it was gut wrenching when he crashed.

TINGY Posted 17July, 2014 Report Share Posted 17July, 2014 If your a car guy I don't think it's that hard to get, great story and seems like a real down to earth guy.
cyberpunky Posted 17July, 2014 Report Share Posted 17July, 2014 it's a great doco. I would seriously question whether someone is actually a car guy if they wern't affected by what happens to Eric's beast. You can't watch it and not feel his pain if you love cars IMO. The fact he is a Porsche guy helps his coolness factor also.
