DJM Posted 4August, 2014 Report Share Posted 4August, 2014 Can't say I've "tamed" the beast. That could take a few years - but I'll be there anyway. Just need roof racks with a secondary fuel tank to get me through without refuelling. It's partial to a drink......!

I'm taking a 10L (i think) jerry can full of fuel with me just incase i need it. mine drinks so much fuel running e85. i'll get 450 k's a tank rough estimate from my mind. Our cars do have small tanks, you might want to consider one or two 10L jerry cans. Repco and Autobarn stock them. They fit nicely in our trunks, just add a bit of padding around to secure. That's what i have! never had to use it though. How many (roughly) k's is a typical SMT from (and return) the meeting point? Around 250 - 300km You should be fine in the 930 no one had actually ran out of fuel.

T-Man Posted 5August, 2014 Report Share Posted 5August, 2014 All you Turbo boys are stressing a little too much. Had Jim (with his new 1000HP flash tune) freaking out about fuel consumption all the way to Canberra and he used less than Niko's Boxster!!! The run to Marysville is only 130km through the twisties. Back to Ferntree Gully, via the regular road adds another 75km. Too easy gents.
Pauly Posted 5August, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 5August, 2014 I love this photo! Turbos are pretty good at fuel economy must admit. I use to get 13L/100km with 98octane. Never measured it after i had more work done to it though.

That would put me off buying a S! The first time i filled up the SLK350 with fuel and the cost was going up and up and up - I remember thinking F I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT! PeterP Posted 5August, 2014 Report Share Posted 5August, 2014 Apparently the optimum speed for fuel economy is between 45 and 55 kph.........so if we all all go at the pace...no problem..!!

DJM Posted 5August, 2014 Report Share Posted 5August, 2014 LHD GT2 had 94 litre tank but RHD copped 63 litres. I imagine Turbo would be similar but with smaller front boot due to front diff? It's pretty good on a cruise but when it's on boost, the fuel gauge moves before your eyes. I Seem to get about 300km to a tank with a mix of driving so 150km on an SMT! No bloody spare wheel is probably a bigger issue.
Pauly Posted 5August, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 5August, 2014 Why does the RHD cop the smaller tank? weird. You'll do better than 150ks!! I don't have a spare either!!! no biggie.
