With DECA almost dead and several hours away it makes it difficult to set up a motorkhana style event in Victoria which is easily accessible.

All the initial site planning has been done and sorted out for the skid pan so from my end and location end it's a go.

I'm looking to see how many people would be interested in participating in the event so I can figure out what types of courses will be run and even if it is worth while.

So here's the details of the event that will be held and some of the reg's for people who have never attended an event of this type before.

Meeting Type

The type of event shall be a Motorkhana/Autokhana and held at the Foresite training facility in Laverton North, Victoria.

Structure of the Event

Arrival & Preparation
Registration & Scrutineering
Drivers Briefing - all drivers must attend otherwise you will not be particpating
Morning Session begins
Lunch
Afternoon Session begins
End of the event

Scrutineering & Safety

Scrutineering/Safety check of all vehicles participating in the event shall commence during the allocated scruiteening time. No scrutineering = no MOTORKHANA for you, there will be no refunds on this.

Please keep this in mind, and arrive early!! There is some requisite paperwork to be filled out at the office before you go across to scrutineering and all drivers must register their attendance. Please follow the directions of the Registration Staff in the Meeting Room.

All vehicles must be scrutineered before entering the course. All vehicles presented for scrutineering must be in a roadworthy condition with no loose objects in the vehicle, no oil leaks and in a safe condition ready to compete. More detailed requirements are outlined within the rules.

Courses will be run as specified, with no additional courses available during the day. Barriers will be placed around the course, your car will come off second best if you hit one of these, so be aware!!

Timing

Course times will be done by our Timing Staff on the day and will published online after the event.

Safety

Alcohol - The consumption of alcoholic liquor on the premises is forbidden whilst the day is in progress. Any entrant judged by the Event Director to be affected by alcohol (or having consumed alcoholic liquor before competing on the day of the meeting) shall be excluded forthwith from the event and incur such penalties as deemed appropriate by the organizing Committee.

Clothing - All drivers will be required to wear suitable non-flammable clothing covering all limbs, closed shoes (no sandals & especially no high-heels!)

Safety Helmet - All competitors must wear a safety helmet whilst competing. Helmets bearing any of the following markings are approved for use:
AS1698, Australian Standard; Snell SA 90, M90, SA95, SA 2000 USA Standard; SF1 Spec. 31.1, 31.2, USA Standard; SIS 88.24.11(2), Swedish Standard; DS 2124.1, Danish Standard; SFS 3653, Finnish Standard; ONS/OMK, German Standard; NE 5 72 305, French Standard; E22 (with 02, 03, 04 or 05 amendments), European Standard; BS 6658-85 Type A and A/FR (including amendments), British Standard as a minimum (Helmets exceeding these standards are accepted. Drivers of all open cars must wear eye protection to AS 1609 - 1981.

Seatbelts - must be fitted to the vehicle and must comply with current Australian Standards.

Bonnets - All vehicles must be fitted with at least two (2) independent fastening systems, of adequate strength and limited extensibility, which simultaneously hold the bonnet or panels closed. Bodily unmodified production cars manufactured after 1 January, 1973, and other cars which are fitted with Front Hinged Bonnets may utilise the original, unmodified manufacturer’s component for closing the bonnet, without the use of a secondary restraint mechanism.

Courses

Courses will be decided closer to the event.

Here's an example of what some of the courses may (or may not) look like

A full entry form with all the rules and regulations details will be posted once EOI has been finished.

Entrants

IF you are interested in this type of event express your interest. You may have multiple drivers for the one car. Each driver will need to be a separate entrant.

Volunteers

Volunteers I am looking to have a few helpers to help with marshaling, scruitineering as it's always nice to have some extra hands which make the event run a lot smoother. If you are interested let me know.

First Aiders I will be looking for a few first aid'ers for the day. If you have current first aid training or even better are a doctor/nurse and are willing to volunteer then you would be most appreciated.

Photographers

Photographers are more than welcome at the event but will have to attend a photographer briefing at the start of the day.

Spectators

Spectators will be allowed but entry may only be limited to certain times depending on the event committee. These details will be released closer to the date.

Passengers

Passengers will not be allowed at anytime.

Concerns

Any concerns please PM me and these will be addressed with the appropriate people.

Sounds like it could be quite a nice event, these being low speed and cater for all drivers - something for everyone!

Love to be involved, please put me down as interested. :)

+ I have level 2 cert in first aid - not that anyone here would trust me to touch them.   <_<  :D

You already have my YES Mike !

Suggest the larger flow type patterns (2,4,5,6) with slightly larger dimensions than Cams patterns, otherwise can be too tight for cars turning circle (not that you would have to use it).

Mike, is this event being run in association with any other bodies, or is it solely for PFA members?

At the moment solely for PFA members. If interest is to low it might be run in conjunction with another club, but I'm really hoping not. Would like to keep it a PFA exclusive event.

Also it's non profit on my behalf with a donation to charity if anyone is wondering.

Well I've been envolved in a number of events previously both competing and helping out with marshalling and scuitineering.

I've got one 2 of my mates on board who have run there own DECA events for awhile for the club in envolved in as well as another 2. So they will be helping make sure everything runs smoothly on the day. We almost got DECA down to clockwork so this should be an interesting event and further honing or skills of organization. Hopefully it will help get others involved in volunteering and one day running there own well tuned event.

At the end of the day it's all about making friends, improving driver skills and enjoying our cars in a safe and legal environment.

Glad to sed that there is enough interest in the day to get it over the line. Still need a little more interest to make it a bit cheaper for everyone and so that we don't get too much track time (strangely there can be too much track time, I never thought there was such a thing until it happened and everyone decided to have an unplanned break for half an hour)

Out of interest who has a CAMS license, AASA or just a regular drivers license at the moment?

I'm definitely not closed to that idea Hugh. Would rather restrict the first event to PFA'ers, but that's not to say it will be at the end of the day.

What it comes down to for me is that nobody compromises the safety, damages the facility or in general acts like a tool. Any of the prior would effect my ability to hold an event like this, particularly for PFA, as well as my willingness.
