Guest Harold Posted 4December, 2014 Report Share Posted 4December, 2014 Seems my 991S is going to be totally underpowered compared to the new S. Can see a big erosion to the retained value of it. http://ninemsn.carsales.com.au/news/2014/prestige-and-luxury/porsche/911/porsche-to-go-almost-all-turbo-47874?_t=555314999&_r=NH_editoria
tazzieman Posted 4December, 2014 Report Share Posted 4December, 2014 Underpowered is a fairly relative term Harold Surely people don't buy new Porsches expecting a large residual? Unless it's one of the limited edition ones.
qstoria Posted 4December, 2014 Report Share Posted 4December, 2014 Or look at it like this: You will own one of the the last NA flat six 911's so it might help with values. Glass half full Harold!
JV911 Posted 4December, 2014 Report Share Posted 4December, 2014 "The Carrera S will downsize from an atmo 3.8 to a turbo 3.4, hiking its peak power from 294kW to 395kW – more than the current 911 Turbo's 383kW base figure." I reserve the right to remain sceptical - 100kw is a big jump, perhaps too big. Not due to any limitation of the powerplant but because of where it sits in the model range. The new Turbo is expected to "produce more than the 412kW of the existing Turbo S kingpin", but it's going to have to be a LOT more (i.e. 500kw region) for them to maintain their edge over the S
clutch-monkey Posted 4December, 2014 Report Share Posted 4December, 2014 395kw in carrera? i agree, will remain skeptical.. or we'll be seeing a few more carrera's written off at auctions..
OZ930 Posted 4December, 2014 Report Share Posted 4December, 2014 So, are you going to offload your underpowered 991S to some poor unsuspecting PFA member ……….cheap?

edgy Posted 5December, 2014 Report Share Posted 5December, 2014 I call BS! Why would they make the Carrera more powerful than the GT3? I have much doubt about it.. Unless they have more sinister plans for the GT3 that is...after all the 991 RS is sporting some interesting intakes on the 1/4 panels.
Guest Harold Posted 6December, 2014 Report Share Posted 6December, 2014 So, are you going to offload your underpowered 991S to some poor unsuspecting PFA member ……….cheap? Whilst that would be a noble thing to do, I think I will trade it in on the new model. I know it sounds selfish and mean... Sorry.

If the article is true, and I also doubt such a huge jump, then the new car will be extremely fast and even more desirable.
