Choppergrino Posted 29December, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 29December, 2014 How did you go mate? Get it sorted?Hi Hugh Sure did mate ! After 20 something phone calls to every Porsche place in Melbourne this morning with no luck , I ended up speaking to Rob at RSR who was very helpful. He gave me a few names to call. I ended up getting one from Louie at Motion Automotive , he was kind enough to part with the spare one he carries in his car. Lucky he had the complete cable as I needed the block that goes on the arm also. I fixed the car on the side of the rd in Brighton with a car jack and a few tools ! All good works a treat now

Choppergrino Posted 29December, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 29December, 2014 Please tell me you didn't just rely on the jack? Glad you are back in business! Yeah the pick was taken as I was looking where to put the car stands. NB: I never trust a car jack, even though it's brand new and doesn't creep! Choppergrino Posted 30December, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 30December, 2014 Actually just bought one on line for $21USD after being inspired by this thread! It would be a good idea to make sure you get a spare clutch clevis and some nuts also. When they snap you may loose the lot.
Stew F Posted 30December, 2014 Report Share Posted 30December, 2014 Actually just bought one on line for $21USD after being inspired by this thread! I think I will do the same. Also, great advice choppergrino. No point having a new one if you can't use it.
JustJames Posted 5January, 2015 Report Share Posted 5January, 2015 As a get-you-home, it is possible to change gears without using the clutch. Starting is a bit of a challenge, so it's not ideal for heavy traffic situations, but it can be done. (My first car was a Mazda that had a clutch operated clutch, and the cable used to head south from time to time.)

Down-change to second is a big cringe moment.
Shady Speedway Posted 5January, 2015 Report Share Posted 5January, 2015 My first car was a 69 GT Capri. I broke the clutch cable and could not afford a new one. Drove around for about a week with hill starts and avoiding traffic lights. The time I broke the accelerator cable and used a piece of speaker wire through a hole in the firewall is a story for another day.
