RENNEN Posted 5January, 2015 Report Share Posted 5January, 2015 Hi all. I am looking for a 991 GT3 to design some carbon fibre front canards/ dive planes. Our 997 versions will need modifying to suit so will only need a car for a few hours. Any takers or referrals? Slip Posted 9January, 2015 Report Share Posted 9January, 2015 What is the projected increase in front downforce (or substantiated increase on the 997 version) and how are you increasing the rear downforce to suit? Porsche seem to have a pretty good handle on the aero setup for the GT3. Normally Porsche install the front canards when a corresponding increase in rear wing size accompanies. Or is this a purely cosmetic fit?

The best answer is perhaps that we are designing to both Porsche Motorsport and a professional US teams specifications. Gurney flaps, end plates, the rear wing plane, canards or dive planes are all on this list, as well as rear diffusers and undertray options. Its my opinion that their benefits can only really be ascertained by the individual driver, track and set up combo. As the manufacturer and not an aero engineer myself, I am satisfied that the product at the end of it will do the job the client wants - and will look good! Certainly a cosmetic purpose as well. I do have an ex-formula one composite engineer in-house however if you'd like a detailed answer? He likes a chat!
