I think this may be the scam that turns up every 6 months or so - photos & description look familiar...😏

I suppose I will find out if it is a scam or not next week when it goes in for the PPI I have booked.  With the COVID situation in Melbourne the Porsche dealers are working in split rosters so the wait for PPI is 10-14 days.

Anyone on here know the history of this car?

I was the first in line on the Arctic Silver 996.2 GT3  that was at PCW recently and ended up backing out on the deal......and no I didn't back out because of a lack of approval from "she who should be obeyed"......it needed a little too much paint and panel for me.

I am fussy.....it needed front and rear bars resprayed for light parking scrapes, it had a stone chip in one guard that had also left a dent, a decent door ding in one door and a couple of the wheel were curbed. Also had a really ugly harness bar fitted......I feel better letting it go now, knowing it didn't have a clear over-rev report.

Wish me luck in my PPI ! 🙂

Is that the one that was stored at one of the Independent Porsche specialist workshops in Melb Hugh?  I thought that was sold only a 30 or 4 months ago?

I’m assuming you’ve seen this; https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1999-Porsche-911-GT3-Clubsport-996-Manual/OAG-AD-18777392?pageSource=details&id=OAG-AD-18777392

I’m assuming your referring to the Jocaro car? No idea if it’s the same car, could be?

@hugh I noted in the ad they say 1 of 42 Clubsport imported for MK1. Does anyone know how they validate this number. It seems more feasible (based on 10 + years of watching the market) than  the 80% Clubsport I had seen bandied around. Do they have some actual import numbers.

Input from the brains trust is welcomed.

No, that car was a Clubsport....it sold in the range of $150-160k and had about 60,000 kms on it.

I believe there was actually 77 MK1 CS delivered to Aus.

Yes I have seen those numbers but I have seen way more comfort spec cars sold.

I have also spoken to guys who bought them new and were offered a cage and seats in a comfort car as the dealerships could not meet demand. I am 90% sure the published numbers are wrong.

I was interested to know where the dealer got the data.

Global production- CS option was only 20% - 30% based on research. Most people probably don’t really care, but I am really interested to know the facts - if possible 👀

Don't disagree on sales in the last 10 years on CS Vs Touring. My only comment is don't forget ~ 20 996.1 CS would have been "consumed" in the original Nations cup series.

p.s. CS was a no cost (trim) option, so any new GT3 buyer would have felt ripped off without seats and cage in a Touring?

I think that’s where the confusion may lie, factory comfort cars with cage and seats fitted by dealers for a small premium. I know a couple of guys who bought new this way.

i should call the sales guy and see where the 40 number came from.

A lot of the MK1 cars I have seen advertised have air bags in the door trims. CS from factory has no airbags in doors for MK1 - it’s the giveaway. In addition to the 003 option code, if the bonnet sticker and books are available.

One day we will get to the bottom of the whole story - 😆

Hughs ex car is a factory CS, no doubt. But the last black car sold by Duttons I say was not a factory CS

Actually...wrong and wrong

door cards vs actually having airbags are not the same thing (airbag type door cards don’t always have airbags behind them)

last car was a Factory CS
