Look at Classic Aussie Homologation Musclecars like GT -HO's, GTS's, A9X's etc. Nobodys racing them, they're garage queens. That's where the money's coming from, financially cashed up car collectors. Same is happening with homologation 911's. Actually all 911's... Fools with their money.. they should drive em and be car lovers .. parking and admiring it only, like W..king over porn vs getting laid .. and for sure they will never find love .. well notional at best .. not that 8k+ love and vibration, when you push hard on the go pedal..when being driven , not just reved up in the garage/storage for ya mates. 20 minutes ago, hugh said: Any GT Porsche is very hard to beat in terms of what they offer for the $$$. Instead you will garage them fearing the kms will decrease the value which……. Is not the point really mrar and symsy

I remember talking to a Ford dealer 10 years ago or so and he was saying that about half of the FPVs they sold were picked up on a truck and went into people's garages never to be driven. Probably easier to get it picked up from the dealer then organising the truck after the inevitable breakdown halfway home? flamingporsche Posted 31March, 2022 Report Share Posted 31March, 2022 Met a young guy last week who now owns (inherited) a 1-owner 3000mile GTHO Falcon from his granddad. Has been de-badged for safe keeping and is in an positive-air storage bubble somewhere in the back of Sydney. People have been putting away special cars for a long time - just a special amount of foresight to select something and lock it away forever. Unfortunately, now the only thing the $1m+ GTHO is good for, is borrowing against. It can't be driven. You can't show it off because word will get out and it will get stolen. sjm

I've got a Falcon XR8 Sprint, from the final week of production, it's worth 20k more than it was worth new, and so many have under 1000 k's on them. GT-F's with no k's on them by the dozen. Such a waste.

So you already have basically a million dollars sitting in your shed that you can't drive because it's too valuable, then because it's a big asset, you borrow money against it? 🤔 That makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever to get in debt to buy something else, when you could flog the car off and be sitting pretty debt free. GT3MEZ Posted 31March, 2022 Report Share Posted 31March, 2022 I guess the capital appreciation exceeds the cost of debt. Sounds like a good investment and a lousy motor vehicle experience. That said, there are things we all own, don't use, and will never sell - just most of them don't appreciate! cafe_racer and Joz

People do it every day in the real estate space. Buy a house, it goes up in value. Borrow against the increased price to buy another property. Then at the end, you have 2 houses, or 3, or 4 etc. No point in sitting pretty on 1 property when it can be used to increase your wealth .. using other people's money .. Just something to ponder..If you are debt free with the house you live in, apart from having to keep on working and the old age pension, where is the retirement money coming from??
