996 GT3 Purchase

Recommended Posts

In 1999, the GT3 became the first production car to break the 8 minutes mark around the Nurburgring. Porsche's official test-driver Walter Rohrl lapped 'Green Hell' in 7 minutes 56 seconds while piloting the 911 GT3 MK 1.

If you’re a 996 GT3 fan the video is pure heaven. (Except the 1st few min are poor audio quality)

From my experience in owning a 997.1 gt3

Great car no doubt

Driven for 1 year - driven 5000ks

No track time

Sold on for 20k up

Will be missed but I am now chasing an rs or if that fails a 991 gt3

I grow bored too easily - wonder if I ought to have kept it....

Whats the go with prices on the 996 TT v 996 GT3 ,  i wonder which one will  hold its value more

totally different cars , why would you buy one over the other , anyone had both would love to hear

your comments .

Have not had both, definitely considered both.. GT3 better track car out of the box, however not as practical as a turbo.

Turbo very capable car, add good suspension and tune and you have a track monster. :) as you said two different cars

Well it's finally done, just a cyclone between me and the Gt3. Will hopefully pick it up tomorrow can't wait.

Do spill beans...

Mick sounds like you got a gem. Guards red is my fav.

That RS 3.8....very very well priced, perhaps the cheapest one I've seen which is suprising given the current market. If I win the lottery...

Might want to check the history pretty carefully. The vendor is a major crashed truck repairer. Might be nothing, but you never know.

It rings some alarm bells for me too... It's 7.1 money, never seen a 7.2 below mid to high 200's

Weirdest way of advertising a GT3 RS ; ad sounds like a family sedan

Cup holders and 4 spkrs , "like who gives a frack" about that sort of thing when buying a GT3RS???

As for "illuminated vanity mirror" , well that says something about the owner  :D

Agree , it's too cheap.

Porsche is probably one of the few used car markets where cheap is actually a turn off for buyers.

It's been a while since I've seen any 3.8 RS sell but the last ones were all north of $260k, the last few 7.1's were all advertised at $225k...

But hey, it is good to know you can put your coffee somewhere when your balls to the wall and need two hands on the wheel, trust me , you will end up wearing it anyway.... and I'd love to see any woman apply makeup whilst in motion, even if the vanity mirror is illuminated! that's some serious talent if they can  :D

I think carsales now uses some software to write ads based on the original description of the car. So they get all the features and dump them into 'sentences'

I get that , but if you are selling at the high end of the market surely you should make a bit of an effort?

It reads like a dopey dealer ad , not someone who actually knows what a GT3RS is.

I cant stand those carsales template ads. Unfortunately most GT3 owners seem to utilise them...does this say something about their internet knowhow (or lack there of?)

Also anyone notice this one has been edited with new pics and an increased price? Was listed a few months ago for 99K or there abouts IIRC

there's also this one from Adelaide

saw it at the Porsche Club supersprint last month, very clean looking car (no affiliation with the owner)

Whatever the car, 100K plus seems to be the theme currently. Not sure the market is there just yet tho?
