RALLYCROSS AUSTRALIA ...... IT'S BACK!

Recommended Posts

Us.....eeerrgghh  "older" members of the forum, can remember the old "crash &  bang" days of

Rallycross which used to be held at Calder Raceway mainly.

It's back at Broadford.

Some great drivers evolved from those events.

Now a recognised event by FIA with the World Championship events featuring

Ken Block and Petter Solberg.   Not bad for starters.

Great event for spectators.

And lets not forget then there was Catalina Park at Katoomba here in NSW.  I remember it with some spectacular drives by guys like Andy Ford in his Mini ( one time trailing a stream of burning petrol from a ruptured fuel line) Bruce Hodgson in his Mark I  Escort 1600 BDA  and  heaps of other drivers in a amazing range of cars. All great stuff and instrumental in getting many of us interested in competing at some level of competition in motor sport.

Will be interesting to see how it evolves.

Ah ha! Kerry,

You reckon you like Rallycross.

Time to drag one of those cars of yours out to the track.

Might I suggest the RS.

You may have to jack up the suspension a bit but it should provide you with a lot of fun.

And remember track work never hurts a P car, they love it, that's what they were built for.

Colin Bond or Brocky in the Supercharged XU1  !

There was a 350 Monaro with dual rear wheels (think Brocky drove it once) and best of all the horde of VW Beetles with motors that back then were considered huge at 2100cc.
