ByronBayChris Posted 16April, 2015 Report Share Posted 16April, 2015 This is the third time in 2 years......I hear a scraping on a speed bump and look to find both heat control boxes hanging on by their hoses. I have just reattached them twice now (by two different indys who had a hoist - not me) but is this a normal maintenance item ? I presume this would also be the cause of some of the smell entering the cabin ? So, do I just re-attach again and keep an eye on it, or does the PFA Collective have a better resolution for this ongoing problem.
T-Man Posted 16April, 2015 Report Share Posted 16April, 2015 That's not right Chris. Disconnected mine a while ago to do some work there and they where a buggy to take off. I'll have a look at the setup over the weekend.
Chris-p Posted 16April, 2015 Report Share Posted 16April, 2015 Doesn't sound right Chris. Theo's and mine are considerably lower than your car and neither of us have had this happen so I couldn't imagine it's going over speed humps that's the cause...... ByronBayChris Posted 16April, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 16April, 2015 Speed humps are when I hear the dragging. I think the hose my be too short or perhaps over got a set if rings which just vibrate loose? Job for today if the weather turns bad.....at the beach with the boys at the moment and I don't like working under the car without another adult nearby. Samios Foods Posted 17April, 2015 Report Share Posted 17April, 2015 I'd refit them and pop rivet them. Cheers Theo Z.............
ByronBayChris Posted 17April, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 17April, 2015 Well, reattached them now - Added a lot more pressure to the ring screw and will keep an eye on it. I will take it for a drive tomorrow and see how the smell might have reduced inside the cabin
Peter M Posted 17April, 2015 Report Share Posted 17April, 2015 Chris,It is also weird that both fall off simultaneously. You would think the RHS would go more often than not because that's the side that usually has the tatty rubbers because they get disturbed when doing oil changes. Is it possible that someone has mixed up the front rubbers and have got them on the wrong sides making the clamped overlaps really short? Long shot and can't really imagine this is possible but like Theo can't see how they could ever fall off. Maybe Mrs BBC sneaks out at night to mess with your head....
