AC78 Posted 21April, 2015 Report Share Posted 21April, 2015 I used Buik just the once for a PPI, was very happy wih service and he saved me a lot of heartache. Also, he discovered car I was looking at was a turd early on so didn't bother with a full PPI and only partially billed me
LeeM Posted 21April, 2015 Report Share Posted 21April, 2015 I'm new to these cars, so I can't really say who is good and who is not, yet I grabbed a few bits from Mark Poole recently that he refused to take any money for (I'm talking small little bits like headlight clips and throttle bushings), yet he doesnt know me at all, and that says a lot about a specialist shop. Mark is easy to talk with, and obviously knows his stuff. I will be sending my 912 to MP Motorsport to service, tune and have a full check over before rego inspection, as theyre very good with air cooled early cars I'm told. Loads of 356's always there either being serviced or resto'd. Theres always race cars out front, and the shop is never empty. I used to live one street from the shop, and could hear and see them doing qualifying laps......err.....road tests every other day. Buik has a good name also, so I don't think you could go wrong with either of them
Shady Speedway Posted 21April, 2015 Report Share Posted 21April, 2015 I have dealt with both. Almost every part I have bought for my 930 has come via Mark Poole. I could in actual fact buy parts cheaper online but I buy them from Mark for a number of reasons. Local bloke employing locals, all the guys there remember me when I go in and are happy to share advice and wisdom. In the knowledge that I am doing all my restoration/preservation work myself. They have been there longer than I can remember, and I would like to see them there for a long time to come. In going through the electrical system on my car I found parts of the loom had been cut out in the cars past. Obviously a rushed band aid job in the cars past (Typical 930 fuel pump issues). Mark gave me an old 911 loom and said "Just bring back what you don't need"... no charge! Where else could I get my hands on a sacrificial loom for nothing? Add to that, when Shannons have a question about a Porsche they ring him, he is their "go to guy" for Porsche valuations. When I need to talk to Shannons about valuation (regularly), Mark backs me up, he does not charge me for that kind of assistance, even if I could put a value on it.
