Especially the GT3’s. even the 964 hotrod were talking about (and lusting after) will be way to fast to thrash on road. But that doesn’t stop me wanting it for exactly that application. If you think like that we would all be driving Citroen 2CV’s Funny you mention the Citroen getting a rwc yesterday and the Mechanic has a restored joby in his garage , Amazing little car , Inboard drum brakes, And it can actually fit 4 people in it, But your right though , I think you would be licence safe with the little 425 cc donk RwGreeny

WGA Posted 20November, 2020 Report Share Posted 20November, 2020 Umm..ahhh...just taking this 996 vs 964 thing to another level....if I had to choose between my 964 RS or my 996 GT3 RS, I would choose the 964 all day, every day. That's how much I like the 964 experience. (I blacked out my other cars to avoid distractions). KGB, tomo, symsy and 3 others

It’s the only RS generation missing from my 964 RS (if you exclude the 964 3.8 RS) up to 991.2 RS. Why? Well I have never really liked the 993. I belong to Chris Harris/Dickie Meaden school of thought that thinks the look of the 993 is just wrong. Both the back and front look like they belong on a different car. Now for someone who owns a 996 and doesn’t like the look of a 993, that might sound a bit contrarian....but I actually do think the 996 is a bit more cohesive a design. But when it comes to build quality, there is no argument that the 964/993s are built like tanks compared to the 996 which has the flimsiest build quality of any generation Porsche ever! What's it worth as a multiple of a 996 gt3. DJM

Euge Posted 10May, 2021 Report Share Posted 10May, 2021 I was holidaying in WA but couldn't get a workable time to inspect the car before flying home. It's out of my budget now days as 964's continue increasing in price, just wanted to appreciate the beauty. Has anyone had a look - what's it like? https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1990-porsche-911-carrera-2-964-manual/SSE-AD-7198592/?Cr=

OBRUT Posted 25July, 2021 Report Share Posted 25July, 2021 Hypothetical - what value hit would you apply to a 964 C4 that has been converted to C2 spec? Assume Aussie delivery, coupe, and matching numbers engine.
hugh Posted 25July, 2021 Report Share Posted 25July, 2021 I’d be expecting a purchase price of 130-150k would be fair buying. Maybe more if it’s in a cool colour? OBRUT
twro Posted 17August, 2021 Report Share Posted 17August, 2021 A friend asked an interesting question today, he's thinking about getting either a 964 or a 993, and asked which I thought would make a better investment? Assuming a C2 with like-for-like condition, drivetrain etc, which do you think might appreciate more over time?
