ByronBayChris Posted 3August, 2015 Report Posted 3August, 2015 I have just discovered that it is a "bank holiday" in parts of NSW and ACT today.Upon digging deeper, apparently it is an official holiday for (wait for it) Bankers, Hair Dressers and Mechanics. What are we doing here in NSW - giving Bankers, Hair Dressers and Machanics a day off just because................because they had to work longer hours at the end of the financial year (on June 30).Too weird for me.
tony1 Posted 3August, 2015 Report Posted 3August, 2015 It's the annual picnic day for mechanics it just so happens to make it a long weekend. I would suggest the union organiser that proposed this date had his missus working in the bank

Airhead Posted 3August, 2015 Report Posted 3August, 2015 Ahh the old Mechanics Picnic day. Egg and ring spanner races. CV boot 3 legged race. Tailshaft tossing competition. Getting pissed and seeing who can chat up the bosses wife/daughter.Those were the days.
Blue964 Posted 3August, 2015 Report Posted 3August, 2015 I have just discovered that it is a "bank holiday" in parts of NSW and ACT today. Unfortunately my bank is far to stingy and greedy to have a holiday...their bastard bankers still issuing me with bills today. Which bank I hear you ask...take a guess:)
